But anyone know how long it takes for your milk to dry up? I have been weaning Noah forever and he hasnt nursed in a good three days and Im still freakin engorged LOL Yeah I caved in Sunday for those that were in chat LOL. I am rocking the sports bra and cabbage leaves and I have been taking benadryl like skittles lmao what am I doing wrong LOL

oh my, honestly, i think it took me months to dry up. i wasn't engorged that long but honestly for all my milk to be gone, maybe 4-6 months.

It took me about a good week, but after about 4 days no breast feeding, no pumping I was feeling more comfortable. Its usually just a matter of being in immense pain for 4 or 5 days before you get relief. Sorry hun.

It can take a while. Mine always takes like a week. :( It sucks! I hope you aren't in too much pain. I heard peppermints help too (though I never noticed any huge difference, but I ate them constantly anyways, lol)

you ladies were dry in weeks! weird! i must have an over abundance of milkage. creepy! there is hope yet, sarah dearest!

Well the first step is to actually stop nursing no matter how bad it gets ;)

It should feel better within a week, but yeah it takes a long while to be TOTALLY gone.

I went from pumping (I failed at nursing) 3-4 times a day down to 2 times a day in a week... then went from 2 to 1 in another week... then a week later I completely stopped. So I did it slowly. After that it took a week for me to feel like I was "empty".... but a little milk could be squeezed out for like 3 weeks... lol

Mine took awhile too. Not the uncomfortable engorged feeling but I had milk for quite awhile after I stopped.

It took about 3 months for me each time. Very painful the first few weeks too. I took lots of tylenol and warm showers.

It took me a couple of months for my milk to be all the way gone. I would wake up in the morning leaking and it would drive me insane! LOL

Oh wow! I'm sorry! I never went through that b/c by the time I weaned both of mine they were down to 1 - 2 times a day, so I never got engorgement at all. Just be careful and watch out for signs of mastisis! I hope it gets better soon!

Thank you girlys for the support, I guess im way to early to be complaining LOL!!
I figured the milk would take a bit to be actually gone gone and we are ttc (though I have to wean before anythings gonna happen for us according to my midwife) so we are gonna be doing this all over again soon enough hopefully but that engorgement feeling is just SO gross! We were taking Noah down a feeding gradually and then got to the point where he was just nursing at night. he was cosleeping so it was super hard to break him of that habit, but then a few weeks a go we moved him to the room with little Wes so that feeding cut out. He would come in the morning and nurse instead though and last week I was just ready, enough was enough for us LOL. He was starting to get REALLY bold. He is doing much better now. He automatically asks for his cup instead of trying to rip my shirt off. Sunday I gave in cause he had what seemed to be a nightmare and was inconsolable so I took him to bed with me, it just broke my heart.
Anyhow thanks chica for being supportive. I had what looked like mastitis coming on and it just kinda magically let up the next day so I am praying that doesnt happen again.

Giving in on Sunday probably set you back a few days. I would say at least a week until you're comfortable. Mine just dried up gradually with Ainsley. But it was pretty miserable with Hannah.

Nan swears by drinking epsom salts for drying milk up but I have never tried it, unfortunately I never had enough milk to feed mine with let alone have it there afterwards. (((((hugs)))) hope you get some relief soon. Hugs Crystal xx

I've never weaned but I had a friend who could still express milk a couple of years after she weaned her ds! But don't stress, it will taper off... you're doing what you can. :)

I haven't BF Thomas for a few weeks and I still have a little, but we were only nursing 1x per day before then, so I had a small supply when I weaned him. Sorry you are in pain :( I wish I had some advice.

I got pregnant with 2nd while still nursing first. I was hoping the pregnancy would make my milk taste off to the first child and he'd wean but nope.

Avalynne weaned herself much to my disbelief, lol! She just started freaking out at a certain nursing, and after 2 days of pretty much not eating, I bought bottles & formula. She would just do 1 bottle a day, and gradually went up in bottles and down in nursings for 1.5 months. I stopped nursing 100% just before she turned 6 months. She is now 7 months (yesterday), and I'm finally dried up. I think I've been completely dry for a couple weeks now.

So it took a good month & a half to dry up completely for me. I was really lucky though that she weaned slowly... I've never been engorged before. I can imagine it would be painful though! I've been full before when she missed a nursing, and that was sore!

Hope your boobies feel better soon!!
