I did it!

Back in January there was a Sugar Babe challenge on your goal for 2008. My goal was making my first quilt. Well I finished it a few weeks ago! It took me 10 hours to hand quilt it (I didn't want strings of yarn messing up my "masterpiece"!) and I LOVE how it turned out! If you look closely, you can see my random little flowers stitched in the blocks, and a flower border on the edge.

My daughter (who's 3) thought it was her's (ha!) so last week I designed another pattern, and she picked out ALL PURPLE material for it. My plan is to hand stitch this one too, and in each square stitch little girly things like butterflies, hearts, flowers, etc. Anyway, thanks for taking a peek. :)

That is beautiful...wish I had the patience for quilting.......Great job, can't wait to see the purple one!!!!!

I started a quilt FOUR YEARS AGO and it is still sitting unfinished in my closet. It just needs to be actually quilted, but I have no patience for hand sewing and my sewing machine is broken. So there it sits...

Your quilt is gorgeous! Congratulations on finishing it!

Congratulations! As someone who has several quilts at at every stage of progress except finished, I give you huge props for starting and seeing your first quilt through to the end! Beautiful job!

I LOVE it! How long did it take you total? Did you take a class? I've always wanted to do a quilt

It probably took me 25 hours from start to finish. A group of us had a girl teach us how. We all exchanged blocks (mine is in the middle) and we planned on autumn colors. I used bigger stitches with crochet (sp?) thread so that it looked more "scrapbook-y". Oh, and I machine sewed all the strips together, just hand quilted the layers together. Make sense? :)

Thanks for all the kind words!

Woo Hoo - Great Job - Welcome to the equally addicting world of quilting!!!! (its my other passion see avatar) - It looks wonderful! Great job on the hand quilting!!!!

Two big circle snaps up to you! Although I sew (and quite well, IMHO LOL), I have started and stopped more quilts than I can imagine! Huge props to you for your accomplishment!

that is gorgeous! I am notorious for starting craft projects and never finishing them so I applaud you for this!! :)
