I am such a mozy idiot

I joined mozy last week as I am tired of playing musical EHDs and apparently I've saved nothing so far. I've been letting it run mainly at night and then when I get up in the morning I kept hitting "cancel backup" thinking that would stop it and I'd pick it up again later. Well duh - it CANCELLED my backups! :o Oy. Starting over today.....194 gigs to save....this is going to take forever. :glare:

It is supposed to pick up where it left off, as long as you don't change anything else. It says "cancel" back-up, but it really just turns it off and then restarts when you start again.

I don't think my stuff is there though - I don't see any indication of anything saved except what it did last night.

Emmy, check on your computer. There should be a "drive" there called Mozy. It's not really a drive though. You should be able to open it in My Computer and look at what's already there. That's how you restore if you have to.

wow I really AM an idiot LOL! Ok I found the mozy drive and there is stuff there - not tons but it's definitely been saving. whew.

I just checked my stats and I'm at nearly 6% done LOL

so is mozy the best? i am thinking of doing this. do you ladies do mozy and an ehd?
I know a lot of people do. That's also one of the reasons they pick Mozy over others, because it will let you back up an EHD as well.

Last time I checked, you had to have an Intel Mac for it to work, so I have to wait until I upgrade my computer to sign up.

You probably didn't realize it was working Emmy because it is SO SLOW that it looks like nothing is happening at first! It'll take you a few weeks to back up that much stuff. You'll feel really good when it's done though (at least until you forget to turn that EHD on one day and have to start all over again . . . :) I think everybody does that at least once.)

I think someone said 90 days it will keep things on there until it decides that you no longer need the backup. It's not immediately, though....because otherwise how would you ever get all your files in the case of a HD failure.

Well, Mozy still has your EHD files archived on their system for 90 days (they archive deleted files for 90 days) BUT you still will have to back everthing up again because if it starts a backup without the EHD plugged in, it immediately thinks those files have been deleted. It's the only thing I hate about Mozy.

It would be nice if it had some sort of warning, like "Are you SURE you want to delete 200 GB of files???!!!)
