the sound has gone out on my iPad. It's not under warranty anymore and Apple says it would be 300 dollars to have it fixed. AT LEAST. Ugh. I still have sound when I use headphones...I'm not paying 300 dollars to fix it..that's half of what the dang thing cost to start with kwim? :cursing: I'm really put out also b/c they wanted to even charge us 20 dollars just to get a service tech on the phone to see if we could trouble shoot it ourselves. We've tried everything we can find online to get it working and I did a full system restore. Nothing. :crying:
 
We have a huge crack in our screen that runs from one side to the other, I'm not sure who even put it there, but I think it would be really expensive to replace the glass too. Totally sucks.

Could you get one of those little speakers that attach to it for the headphone jack?
 
That stinks! The cost do repairs is always crazy. If you're going to pay that much, you might as well find a little more money and just get something new. But, yeah I bet little speakers would work. Sorry Nikki. :(
 
I didn't know there was such a thing as little speakers so thanks for the info! Maybe that will work..

yeah I told DH mine is almost 2 years old already..I may as well just live with it until I'm ready to get something new.

I got the kids these for their ipod shuffles, I don't know how well they work, but they were only like $6. I got one on Groupon and then I found one at the family dollar.

So sorry but I hope the speaker thing works for you. I've had a tablet that lasted less than a week and one that lasted a month, was replaced and then messed up again after a couple months, then died right before two years. Luckily I bought the two year replacement plan with both and the last time they refunded the whole purchase price. I wish they made these things so they last a little longer.
 
boo! i hate that! i swear tehy make it super expensive to fix just so you'll go "well i might as well buy a new one!"
 
Look for a local repair place. I did that with Nick's when he dropped milk on it over the summer. Only cost me $140 to repair it.
 
Do you have a service plan with your computer that covers up to so many devices? I have one on my laptop that will cover the laptop plus 2 different devices (computers, phones, kindle, anything)... sometimes we have these service plans and forget...
 
My screen just got cracked last week. I took it to a local place to replace the screen for $129.
