I am so pissed right now...

I am watching the closing ceremonies....and all of a sudden, at 10:30 pm, NBC decides to stop showing the ceremonies and start showing their new lame-ass show, the Marriage Ref. WTH??????

They aren't going to continue the ceremonies until 11:35 pm. I will be in bed by then. Not to mention that it totally interrupts the vibe and the feelings of the moment. So wrong. Yes, I will DVR it, but it is just the point. What the hell is wrong with American television??? NBC is just terrible. Disgusted.

ETA - I mean, how disrespectful to Canada. They open their country to the world and then give us their farewell performance, and our television network couldn't even give them the courtesy to air it in it's uninterrupted entirety? Grr.....

I don't watch the opening or closing ceremonies, it bores me, but that is messed up. These ones have been odd for me since its in PST, all the good stuff is on after I am in bed.

That's weird because it's still on here with another half hour in the schedule to go. Were they showing it live? Maybe it's an east coast vs west coast thing? Still stupid but then I'm not surprised given the number of complaints about NBCs coverage of these Olympics.

It was uninterrupted here, and I watched the whole thing. I'm in the central time zone though, so I don't know if that matters. I agree with you though. That sucks.

I'm watching it now, and it's only 8:15...so hopefully they will finish it uninterrupted.

eta: it's now 10:30 and the new shows for NBC are on. They'll come back and finish the closing ceremony at 11:30 (PST). I'm going to bed!

OK, I stand corrected. The news is over and the closing cermony just came back on. That's weird, because what I saw before looked like the end of it. Now they're showing the music performances. Whatever...it's jacked up.

um that is rude. i'm still pissed at them and Jay Leno for the whole Conan fiasco. Conan rocks. Jay is a big stupid head. so is NBC, lol.

totally messed up :( The olympics only happens once every 2 years you would think they could hold off on all the other stuff.

Yeah, it was definitely an East Coast issue. They were showing the ceremonies Live here and then they cut away to this stupid ass reality show and said that the rest of the show would air taped at 11:30 pm. So freakin tacky.

I watched it in full last night, on Pay-Per-View channels (although it was free), with no interruptions or commercials. Figured that out after watching the opening ceremonies with commercials interrupting things.
All I can say is wow, even I was impressed with who performed. hehehee

I stopped watching right after William Shatner came on. Seemed like it was going into a lame comedy routine after that, which was a bummer.

It wasn't just East Coast. I saw some tweets from West Coasters complaining about the same thing.

How annoying. Since I'm in Canada, I got it live anyway, but I have never heard of this. I have watched a lot of Opening/closing ceremonies that were not in my country, but our networks have never done this. I never watched any of the Olympics on NBC, not just because I'm Canadian, but because they always show everything after it's already happened.

That is messed up Susan. That would tick me off so bad because Canada deserves our time more than that stupid Jerry Seinfeld.

I hate it when they do things like that. Personally I am glad the olympics are over ... I never WILLINGLY watch them ... I'm a NASCAR/INDY type of girl ... not Olympics ... and they seem to be on constantly and I can't watch what I want to because they run over ...and it never fails that for some reason dh has to be on MY TV (aka birthday slumber party this weekend) and I have to watch it ... and 20 other channels at the same time while he flips channels constantly ... so have never seen an event from start to finish ... thus maybe why I have never gotten hooked on it.

We passed up watching it during it's original airing to watch other things but read about that this afternoon on Yahoo. It was wrong on so many levels.
I had no idea it'd happened because I watched it later when they rean the whole thing much later in the wee night owl hours of the night and it was all run completely and with no interruptions.
