I am FREAKING OUT!!!!

Oh. my. gosh. I AM SUCH AN IDIOT!!! What happened to my brain?!?!? I really need to get this out...

So, I am an honors student at my university, but decided a few semesters ago that I didn't care if I graduated with honors so stopped taking the honors courses. There are also honors sections of regular courses... basically you go to the same class as the "regular" students but you have an extra project to do in order to get honors credit for the course. So today I logged into my univ email and there's a message to honors students of my anthropology course. I'm like, that's weird, why am I getting this email? And then I thought maybe the TA just sent the email to the entire class on accident instead of just the honors students..... then I started getting worried so I logged into my student account and check... there it is... the dreaded H next to my course number. I *AM* in the honors section!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh. How did I NOT know that?!!??!?! And so I go back and read the email and there's an assignment due today and I don't even know what it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I guess I have to write an extra 15 page paper for the honors section. I think I'm going to puke. I emailed her to see if there is anything we can work out. I want to cry. This is totally my fault.... UGH!!!!!! :cursing:

ETA: Oh my gosh. SUCH RELIEF!!! She just emailed me back:
I'm glad you answered my email! It's not a problem for you to switch
sections. Please pick up a drop/add form and bring it to class. Dr.
X will be out of town next week, but I'll check to see if I can
sign for him. If not, you can just hang on to the form and take care of
it as soon as he gets back.

Oh my, that was terrifying. lol Now i can relax. :)

Can't you drop the Honors section and add the regular section?

It's way too late for that.... there isn't any more room left in the regular section... and I asked in my email to my TA if it was at all possible for me to take it for regular credit instead of honors... I am praying we can work it out. Oh, and I can't just drop the course altogether or else I'd lose my scholarships. :(

Well that sucks. I guess it is pretty late in the semester at this point, like 5 weeks for Penn State, which is what I'm used to.

Hopefully you can work it out!

Oh no Megan! I have a recurring nightmare that is something like that. I hope you get everything worked out. I'm sure they will be sympathetic. Keep us posted. {{HUGS}}

Ack, I'd be freaking out too! However, I did find when you went to the right person and explained situations like this, generally a reasonable solution could be found. If you have to, keep going up the food chain until you get to someone who can fix it. I was very lucky that my undergraduate advisor was also the dean of our faculty, so I was already talking to the top of the food chain when I had any problems. Obviously that made things like this much easier for me to deal with, but it also taught me that there is really nothing that can't be fixed if the powers that be are so inclined. So get to the right powers that be if you need to, and hopefully they're reasonable human beings that won't let a silly mistake like this ruin your grades.

I was gonna say the same thing! I HATE that nightmare, and I hate that you have to live through something like it. Good luck getting it sorted out!

I'm so sorry! I hope you can get it worked out with the TA or the teacher. I've found that teachers can be pretty flexible if you ask for it. Good luck!

yikes! That's terrifying! Hopefully it's not a huge portion of your grade!

I bet if you talk to the person who has to do the grading and ask to be graded like a regular student and if you explain to them that you AREN'T graduating with honors so the credits won't mean anything anyway, maybe they'll help you out!

I hate pieces of news that make my heart go "thunk" and then leave me in silent agony for awhile...

Oh my, that was terrifying. I bet she was wondering why I didn't ever show up at the honors meetings they had outside of class. lol

And yes, very similar to a recurring nightmare i have... but usually the nightmare is that it's an exam day and I slpet through class or something was due that I didn't know about...

Tell me I'm not the only person who'd carry like 400 pens and pencils with them during exam time, for fear that 399 of them would mysteriously not work just as your exam starts. :D

When I was getting next to zero sleep while finishing writing up my undergraduate thesis, I started dreaming in MS Word during those rare moments I caught a little sleep. I kid you not, my dreams would be happening, and everything that was happening was b-e-i-n-g t-y-p-e-d o-u-t i-n W-o-d a-s i-t h-a-p-p-e-n-e-d. . .
It was FAH-REAKY and disturbed me deeply, LOL.
