I was at my friend's house today. Brought my laptop--mistake!!
My friend was taking some pics of our kids and then I asked her for the memory card b/c I figured I could just copy the pics onto my laptop rather than have her email them to me.
Her card is Memory Stick Pro Duo and I thought my card reader on my laptop could read it. So I put it in. Mistake 2! it was much smaller than the slot and looked to be stuck. So I thought maybe if I pushed it in further it would perhaps pop out. Mistake 3! oh no. so now very very very stuck. (Looking online, I think I needed to have some sort of adapter.)
She has no tweezers and gives me a metal wire stick thing. I'm poking the wire in there trying to dislodge the card. Start getting frustrated and poke around more aggressively. Mistake 4. At this point I've pretty much destroyed the card reader I think. But I can live with that. I'm more worried about my friend's memory card that has her Easter pics on it
.
I also try turning my laptop back on but it will NOT boot up. It went through some start up troubleshooting thing but still wouldn't start. I'm getting a little concerned at that point. (Fortunately my pix and digi stuffs are on an EHD.)
I come home and use my letter opener to get the card out. I have no idea though if the card still works
. However, my laptop seems to be working okay, aside from the messed up card reader. I really really hope her pics are still intact. I will feel SO horrible if I ruined her photos.
