Do you love the fail blog? Well I have to share with you our own version of the "pastry fail" cake and the story behind it!

Tabatha reminded me that when I'm feeling cranky I like to make other people laugh and that will always cheer me up since I'm a goofball....and that I forgot to share with you our very own "Pastry Fail".

First, look at the original cake for inspiration....

Pastry Design Fail

Well, David and I love the fail blog...Tab got us addicted to it awhile back...and he and I thought that cake was hilarious....so when Tab and I went grocery shopping for his going away party, we thought we would orchestrate our very own pastry fail to make him laugh.

Problem was, we let his going-away-day sneak up on us and we forgot to order the cake! We had spoken to the bakery and they had told us they could spray camo-type edible paint on a cake, etc...but we showed up at the bakery two hours before the party.

so, ummm...we had to improvise.

And this is where it starts to get ridiculous.

We got a Wall-E cake.

and we removed one of the, ummmm...robots? (I have no friggin clue, I've not seen the movie).

And put a tank on it.

In the....water...

or is it the sky?

I'm not sure.

And the lady SCRAPES off the "Happy Birthday" and does a bad job of it, I might add.

And SQUEEZES in the tiny spot,

"Good Luck David
Under Neath That
Hooah!"

(Hooah is an Army saying if you don't know.)

And leaves, of course, what Tabatha and I refer to as "space turds". We aren't really sure what those jelly beans were supposed to be. It also appears there is a small pile of brown mystery icing by the writing as well.

The bakery worker didn't want to help us but once she realized we weren't going away she was eager to do what it took to MAKE us go away. She thought we had lost our minds, I'm sure.

It is the most. ridiculous. cake. ever.

he loved it :D

That is hilarious! I can't believe the bakery worker left the brown mess and the space turds... HAAAAAA

My own version of the fail cake...I was the bakery worker during my college years. It was Saturday evening, just getting ready to close and in walks this woman and her poor husband. It turns out she was a baker and was trying to deliver a wedding cake just minutes before. Her husband was helping her carry it to her car and tried to carry the cake and turn off the light with his elbow at the same time. Needless to say, the cake flipped and so there she was in the store for me to try to help her whip up a wedding cake in 10 minutes... She ended up with frozen confetti cake - you know the kind with bright colored frosting and the confetti sprinkles everywhere! I bet that was one bride that was NOT laughing...but I hope it made you all laugh.

Hysterical Thanks for brightening my morning!

You are very good at cheering me up! I've forwarded your cake wreck to a number of friends. So funny!
