All of my styles that I have saved and been using for the past few years are GONE. I opened Photoshop and the style area just had the ugly factory styles.

Well if you have them saved they should be in the presets folder or whever you put your styles?

Just search for .asl files

I don't think I have ever saved them before though. Unless you mean when I save them to create a new style?
 
Do you save your layered files? You could open them up and look at what all the specifics are from each of your shadows and write them down and remake them? Hopefully that makes sense what I'm trying to say...

If you have layered files, you can just double click on the layer to open the style settings dialog box, and save them from there.

I do, but since I shadow last I generally do my last save before I get to it, most of my TIFF files are all shadow- and journal-less. I'm trying to hunt up any that might have shadows now.
 
I learned the hard way to save all of mine including my actions in a folder every so often cause this has happened to me before :(
