How to Use Layered Embellishment Templates in PS?

Hi, I'm a digital scrapper newbie and having a tough time with my first project. I'm attempting to create an invitation for my daughter's upcoming 1-year birthday party and, for the life of me, cannot figure out how to use the Build A Cupcake layered template from Sweet Shoppe. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Any help is appreciated as I'm hoping to get the invites out some time this millennium =)

I just put the paper I want to use over the layer of the template I want to use and use that as a clipping mask (Alt+Ctrl+G)

repeat the process until your cupcake is covered with the papers you wish!
