How To Use a Pin?

Hi! Quite a few of my kits have decorative pins included in the elements. I have never used them with success mainly because I do not know how. I just can't get the shading right! Does anyone have an explanation or a great tutorial. I did a quick YouTube search but came up with nothing. Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I am so glad you asked that because I never know what to do with them either! lol! Guess I'll have to stay tuned to this thread ;)

You can stick them into a cluster and shadow them just like you would shadow a ribbon if you want the pin to look like it's inserted into the cluster high above the paper... or if it's laying flat against the paper at the bottom of a cluster, shadow it like you would shadow a small hard, semi-flat object such as a flat button or confetti scatter.

You and also 'cut' the pin in the center with a layer mask and draw a line of shadow on the paper below (and off-center to one side of the invisible pin we imagine is now below the paper) it to make it look like it's stuck in the paper.

Thanks Brook! I will practice and see what I can come up with.

Maybe I just haven't had enough coffee yet, but...are we talking about stick/push pins or safety pins?
