How Often???

How often do your print your layouts? Do you wait for sales or just print when you have a certain amount of layouts completed. The last time I printed layouts was March of 2012 so I bought some print credits at Persnickity. Yikes!!

I need a system......

I so need a system... I haven't printed since 2009! I got about 150 single page prints and I so need to print the rest - Once I got so many completed los though, I just started dreading what it would cost to print them and now they're just piling up :( It's a goal to get organized - my los and I want to start getting more printed this year. I can't believe it's really been so long!

I had a system of waiting until a sale, but then it would be so hectic that weekend, the site was slow with everyone else loading... and then the print would just get pushed - I haven't printed anything in over a year!

This year I swore that I would just print every month, sale or no sale... or like figuring they would have a sale around the scrapbooking days in May/Nov, I'd wait... well, we are in Feb and I have yet to print Jan... haha, so much for my system... note to self, get ready to print this week!

I keep print credits in my account and print every 2-3 months. I upload my layouts as I finish them and when I feel like I have enough to justify the shipping - or I just get impatient to put them in my albums - I print them :)

I print a photo book for my son a couple times a year (when there is a sale!). Then about 4 times a year for the prints (when there is a sale!). I try to remember to upload every month, so they are waiting to be printed and all I have to do is put them in my cart.

I wait for sales!!! What I usually do is scrap and save the full sized Jpeg and then every couple of weeks I upload everything to Persnickety Prints. That way they are always ready for when they announce a sale.

I keep 2 folders on my laptop: 1.) Pages to be Printed 2.) Pages already uploaded. So once I have uploaded to PP I move the page to the 2nd folder, I like to keep a copy until I have the printed page in my hand...to make sure I get what I ordered (sometime I order hundreds of pages at once) and also because twice I have singed in to PP and my layout has been missing from their gallery!

I did however just got print credits (in both sizes) so now I don't necessarily have to wait for a sale if I want something printed earlier!!

I did that mainly because I'm doing project life in 12x12 and I wanted to be able to fill my book as I go along and not have to wait for a sale to print those pages!!! So those I think I will print at the end of each month!!!!

Oh and how I keep track of them at PP is I just start a new folder right after I order prints....so I know that all the prints in the newest folder need ordered!!! :D

I print like twice a year, in photobooks. I usually wait until I have enough pages to fill one up.

I buy print credits and then print when I feel like I have enough, usually every 4 months or so. (Nothing that organized, just me thinking "Hmmm...I haven't printed in a while and my print folder is getting full.") I have a folder on my computer where all newly completed, not printed LOs go.

This year I think Project Life is going to change that habit for me. I haven't been happy with any of the local places I've tried getting my 4x6's printed; the week I had done at Persnickety when I was ordering LOs looks so much better. So unless I come up with a better solution for PL, I'll be putting in a monthly Persnickety order. I'm still hoping I can think of something, since I don't want to wait a month to get PL layouts in my album. Silly, since I wait about 4 months to get the digi layouts in my album. But I think the difference is that digi pages are finished...the separate sections of the PL LOs mean that they're not really done until I assemble them.

i print when persnickety prints has a sale on 8x8's. i keep a folder with my fullsize layouts. as i get them printed, i move them to my EHD

so my question is once you get them printed, what do you do with them on your HD/EHD? I like to keep mine in different folders and print them for different occasions..like I printed a Cruise album for my DD for Christmas, but I want some of those LO's to go in my yearly book as well, so I actually upload to seperate folders on PP (1.e. Sam 2012/Cruise 2012/Fair 2012/Family Vacation 2012) then when I want tpo print indiviidual LO's to put in a specific album I just pick and choose what I want.....

but I also print at Inkubook and Shutterfly and those tend to be specific books (Dec Daily, Sam's Senior Album, Project Life).....

my biggest problem is I don't scrap chronologically, BUT I really like my albums in chronological order, but I think I really need to get over this and just PRINT pages/albums like Elizabeth does :)

I've found with Persnickety that there is a coupon with my print job so I generally try to print every couple of months. I don't scrap chronologically either Angie, but try to date all my layouts so I can at least organize them chronologically.

I wish there was an easier way to have chronological albums when you don't scrap that way! I don't like to have pages out of order or thrown together by when I scrapped them, so this is my system for printing and filing single pages. It's "messy" and not efficient, but it's still the best I've come up with.

I have a folder for newly created, unprinted LOs. Regardless of what album the page is intended for, it lives here (in jpg and layered forms) until it's printed. (Okay, that's a lie. Project Life pages are in a separate folder because I print them as individual 4x6's soon after completing the week.)

After the page is printed, I delete the layered file and move the jpg to the folder that corresponds to the album I put the print in.

I keep all of my completed LOs on my HD so they will remain automatically backed up to my EHD and Backblaze.

I want my albums to end up chronological, but I don't scrap that way. While an album is in progress (and that can be 3+ years, LOL) I just add new pages to the back. When I've declared an album done, I take all the pages out and sort them chronologically, then put them back in the page protectors. It's a pain, but it only takes me a couple of hours and I'd rather do that than live with them out of order forever.

I usually put my layouts in photobooks on Shutterfly and print them when I'm done with a project (and when shutterfly has sales :) I also printed individual layouts at Costco.

This is exactly what I do!

Since I print at home, I can do it whenever I have some free time to print. Generally, I'll print out a weeks worth on a Friday night or Saturday unless there's only a couple. Then, I'll just let them roll over to the next week.
