Happy St. Patrick's Day, lovely ladies! Just out of curiosity, do you spell it St. Patty's Day or St. Paddy's Day? 'Cause ya know, this is important stuff. :p

It's Paddy. Paddy is the male nickname for Patrick.

Patty is the female nickname for Patricia.

What she said!!! Except, I only ever say, "St. Patrick's Day" and never shorten it because I don't want to offend anyone who thinks "Paddy" is a derogative/offensive word. For quite a few years now, there is always a group of people/friends/colleagues complaining about the use of "Paddy" that I just stopped using it because I don't truly understand how offensive it could be to someone of Irish decent or who embraces their culture. Just this morning, there were three people on our area's FB Group ranting about the use of "Paddy" yesterday and how they find it offensive being of Irish-decent. In their ranting, they were, once again, educating people about St. Patrick's Day.

I'm not Irish, not even a little smidge and I don't celebrate it. So me, it's just St. Patrick's Day since I'm just on the commercial side of the holiday.

I use Paddy, just because the best Irish Pub around is called "Paddy's Pub" and it is all decked out in shamrocks and such. Very rarely do I shorten it in "type" (just verbally) so I don't have to look at it because if I did it would probably drive me crazy too. lol
