How do you scrap? Tips for photobooks?

I'm wanting to make a photobook for family but have never really scrapped chronlogically. I want to do a year in review book (for 2008 and start one for 2009) but also need to go back at some point to scrap baby photos of my kiddos.

How do you all plan projects like photobooks? Are any of you doing a YIR kind of project? Do you mix kits, themes, etc?

Show me some projects please! :) I want to start the new year out with a scrapping plan!

I don't necessarily scrap chronologically, but I definitely print chronologically. I have a 2007 photobook done and I like to match facing pages, but other than that, the kits are pretty much all different... and no theme besides 2007. I'm maybe 5-10 layouts away from being ready to print 2008 too and I can't wait! After that, I will try to stay caught up with 2009 and scrap older pictures in between... that's what I did this year since I knew I wouldn't be printing until the end of the year.

It really depends on what you like. This is our family album and we take a lot of pictures so I definitely prefer doing books by year (also printed individual ones for each child with just pages of that child).

I also plan to do an ABC book this year for my daughters, similar to the one Jessica Sprague has through shutterfly. I like the idea and I'd like the challenge of something other than a year themed book. But all the extras are worked on in between the more recent stuff so I don't get too behind.

I scrounged sales and kinda rigged together a plan - using Janet Phillip's Year In Review templates at oscraps, and a few from Kellie Mize who is now at we are storytellers, a few of Penny's and a few of Bree's and Darcy's, the goal is month/week/big event/dividers.

Then individual pages, two page spreads for holidays, special events, or other fun stuff that just takes more space has somewhere to go and this over-organized neat freak is happy.

Now if I could just get my booty in gear, and get it done, say round August, and use Libby's fine idea of using Cafe Press, then the monthly dividers would become calendars, and my Christmas gifts wouldn't have arrived today, now wouldn't they? :p

I did Baby Books for each DD, just for the first year. After that, any layouts about them specifically gets put in our big, yearly family album. I keep all my pages (as jpgs) so I figure one day I'll get books printed for each girl specifially, and probably give them as wedding gifts. :)

So yes, I print a book every year, with all the layouts from that year.
