We just had a 4.6 earthquake up here in little 'ole Maine It was felt down in Boston and as far away as Vermont!

I felt it here in Everett, MA. Sounded and felt like something hit the house at first. My sister started to say it was the wind then everything started shaking for a couple of seconds and I knew it wasn't the wind. I called my aunt who lives in Maine (about 20 miles from the epicenter) to make sure she was all right and said she didn't feel it.

We felt it! I thought it was the wind at first because we heard it on the windows before feeling it. DS said "Did that wind rock our house side to side?" Luckily we kept our cool so he wasn't too scared to go to sleep.

We are pretty far away from where the epicenter was (about 2 hours) but we did feel it here and my china was rattling around. The cats started acting weird before we felt it; they were actually pretty much freaking out - LOL.

Wow! I live in Iowa and have never felt an earthquake. I think it would be way too scary! Glad you all are fine!

They are usually over before you realize what's going on (says the girl who grew up in the self-proclaimed earthquake capital of the world).

Wow! I've been in earthquakes like that and it's freaky! Glad you are all safe. I don't usually think of Maine as an earthquake zone?!

Lynnette, I agree. We had one in IN a few years back and while I felt it, I sure didn't realize what it was at the time.

It's crazy, isn't it, the way they can happen out of the blue in a place that doesn't usually have them? I'm in VA, and last year we had a 5.8 centered a few hours away from us. I was 1 floor above our washing machine and had just thrown a load in, so my first thought was that the machine had become unbalanced. Of course that wouldn't explain why the whole house was shaking, but it took a minute for it to occur to me that there must have been an earthquake.
