Help with the Messages

Hello. I need help understanding the messages. I've sent a private message to a member and I can't find it in the sent folder. Are those different messages than the ones in the inbox? Today I found out I had 17 messages, when I opened my gallery and they were comments on my gallery layouts. The whole system is kind of confusing. Am I the only one?

Under the folder controls at the top of your messages page, you should see a little dropdown that lets you go between your inbox messages and sent messages

Thank you for responding. I just found out about these "messages" which are actually comments.
