Help with strange area in my house...

Ok ... The master bedroom is just off the kitchen/breakfast area.

However the door is not immediatly right there, it's kinda into a little cubby and off to the side. Sounds strange ... i know. . . here is what it looks like off a similar floor plan.

and a few shots of it in my dirty, unpainted (still deciding on these) house: (we are getting all new engineered wood floors this weekend!!! )

Soooo, my question is .... would you paint this it's own color, same as kitchen, same as bedroom, somewhere inbetween??

I have that about doing it all in chalkboard paint but the ceilings are 11 ft so that is a LOT of chalkboard paint (I guess we could just do plain black out of reach) and putting some coark boards, calendar and memo boards up....

other ideas?

I wouldn't do chalkboard/memo board since its right before your bedroom. I would do a color the compliments both your kitchen & bedroom, but not the same color, something different and hang some pretty art that you wouldn't put anywhere else.

Ours is like that, and it's painted the same color as the adjacent living room. I really like it that way. I've also hung a large piece of artwork on the wall to help it have its own feel.

I like the idea of it's own complimentary color with some artwork~ maybe you could frame something the kids drew and put it there!

I would paint it the same color as your bedroom, to "claim it" as part of that space, for you and your hubby. Unless that totally clashes with your kitchen color, and then I'd either go complimentary, or just straight neutral.

I would paint it the same as the dining room and hang up a nice large mirror to catch any light to brighten that nook up.
