Help a newbie out?

So I'm new to this forum/gallery stuff and I'm having a few issues with uploading my layouts and sizing. Is there a thread that explains this somewhere? Any tips, tricks or guidance is greatly appreciated.

A little while ago I posted a suggestion to have a sticky section here for forum posting help for us newbies. A lot of my questions were answered in that link, (as well as suggesting going to the tutorial section). aklso you normally have to have 10 posts before it will let you upload to the gallery and it looks like you have them now

I wish I could sort out exactly what I can and can't do before those ten posts... I was able to upload to the gallery, and post in the challenge thread with a link (but it hasn't been approved yet, I think). I am trying to wait patiently.
