have you seen that video of the guy who planned a wedding..

lauren grier

you're like stars
based on his gf's pinterest.......

i would seriously kill a man.

death.

i do not find this romantic or sweet or anything. It's totally cheesy and I would be angry! SO much pressure! Hey, will you marry me?.. TODAY.. yeh i totally did all this behind your back and you have to marry me RIGHT NOW. I skimmed through the video, some parts really made me gag LOL

Maybe I'm just not that swoony girl.

For those who haven't seen it : http://jezebel.com/man-plans-girlfriends-dream-wedding-using-her-pinteres-1440474150

I don't think I can bear to even watch it. I'm in the "not romantic and I'm gonna kill him" camp. It actually sounds more like a controlling kind of thing, to which I don't respond well. Even my dil who had a terrible time making decisions about her wedding, did have some thing she felt strongly about, and wouldn't have been happy with this being done to her.

Plus, the guy hadn't even ASKED her yet? Yeah, even more not cool.

she seemed overly excited, but there was something very weird about it......I watched the whole thing last night and what really got me was he had NEVER told her that he loved her...they had been together 5 years!!!! that struck me as very very odd.....the only benefit she had in the whole thing was never having to stress over planning it or executing it!

i know! totally just.. odd. creepy. NO. people were saying they were crying watching it.. lol. I am so missing that sappy girl gene.

I think it's a sweet thing considering he did remember all those years that she said she'd love the engagement and wedding on one day, and I guess I'm the non-wedding kinda of girl that would've been happy to just get married, not have all the planning to do, etc.

But it did make me sad for her that he hadn't ever said I love you. It's thrown around way too easily now days foreverything, but in a relationship for 5 years and never having said it? Hmmm...sad.

I don't dare to watch the video, but just for the record, I hate when a man says "I love you" to me. I prefer showing to telling in this respect. And these words are so over-used these days (especially in English) that to me they lost their meaning. So to me it's not sad or anything. And there are men out there who don't say this but it doesn't mean they don't love you. I don't know if this one is one of them, of course.

I don't say "I love you" either, by the way. :-)

I kind of think it's sweet... or at least is MEANT to be... I think he was trying to make a sweet gesture (mind you, I've only read about it, not seen the video), and planning it off of her pinterest is at least really nice-- he considered what she would want.

Let's hope for her sake that after 5 years he knew her enough to know that this is something she would want. :)

And if we turn it the other way round, her having a wedding Pinterest board might be seen as pressure on her part as well, LOL. The guy doesn't seem to have minded.

I don't like surprise parties so I definitely wouldn't want my wedding to be a surprise party. I think half the "fun" of a wedding is the whole process of planning it. Sure a lot of it is a pain, but it's one of those things you want to experience.

I don't think he should throw the "I love you" around lightly, but you were willing to spend the rest of your life with her and you never once told you that you loved her? I just think that is still very odd....I don't say it very often, either, but I couldn't believe that he said he had never said it to her.

Guess I'm the oddball. I thought it was incredibly thoughtful & sweet! It would be one thing if it was totally his idea, but she had said she wanted to be engaged & married on the same day. How else would it happen if he didn't plan it? :) She definitely seemed okay with it... and I think they're totally adorable together.

One of my coworker's sons did this very same thing last year. Although his girlfriend/wife never said she wanted to get engaged & married the same day. She DID say she didn't want to plan a wedding, though. So he did it. When Ursula was telling us about it, I was getting hives just hearing about it all. I'm definitely a planner, so it would NOT be for me... but both ladies in both situations were totally okay with it. :)

I think you nailed it. :-)

I think it is pretty sweet myself. I have only watched a few minutes of the video but I have to say that it seems really sweet. I HATED wedding planning. It was excruciating. Biggest stresser of my life. I gained 40 pounds during the last 11 months before we got married (we were engaged for 20 months). I never want to plan another wedding. My daughter is on her own. ;) LOL

As for the 'I Love You'. Well... everyone is different. My DH said that to me before we ever a couple. Our relationship has been backward in a lot of regards though. We never dated. We moved in together right away. We were friends for a few years before that though.

i totally have the swoony girle gene - , so i get how this could have worked for me. but something about this guy just rubbed me the wrong way. what kind of moron dates a girl for 5 years without saying i love you? and what kind of idiot girl stays with a guy who she isn't even sure feels that way?? it definitely seemed odd to me. maybe a different couple could have made this seem super sweet - but i just didn't get that vibe at all from this.
