Has This Week

Has this first week back to school after holidays been hard on your kids, too? Mason had been home from Dec 16 through Jan 4 (last day of school was actually Dec 19 but our school leaves all the christmas stuff until the last 3 days so the teachers and I decided to let Mason stay home those days - and I slept in on the 16th...he WAS supposed to go to school that day, lol).

Anyway, he was up generally pretty early the whole time he was off school...anywhere between 6:30 and 7:30 was the usual time he got up. When he's in school he has to be up no later than 7:20, but yesterday and today were SO hard for me to get him up! He just wanted to go back to bed and would roll over and go back to sleep.

Has it been rough on your kids too? They need to break the kids in slowly to this like they do after summer holidays, lol...

Nicholas is like that, too! He's only 2, but he is always waking up by 7 at the lastest unless its a day for daycare when he wakes at 6:30, then he's all tired. lol I think its just easier to wake on your own no matter what time then be woke up.

Actually, the transition has been harder on ME than the kids. I didn't work during christmas vacation because I work at an elementary school. And I got into the bad habit (from my SAHM days) of staying up really late and getting to sleep it a little bit. Well, now that I'm back to getting up at 6:10, I'm totally dragging. I'm going to *try* to go to bed a bit early tonight...

its been a little rough getting up a tad bit earlier than i'm used to, but not as hard as i thought! chloe is glad to be back; she likes school.

Not sleep wise but gosh Derrick has been EXTREMELY SMART MOUTHED since going back to school on Monday. I'm ready to pull out the hot sauce.... :cursing:

Ugh, thats so frustrating, isn't it? Cameron has started talking back to me (its gotten betters since this summer though) and I was about to the point of hot sauce too, Kat. I hate nothing more than a sassy mouth.

Um yeah... I was ready to strangle him last night.....

Today was the girls' first day back and it was a little tough getting them to bed at a decent hour last night and up on time this morning. They usually go to bed at 8:30 but I think last night it was close to 9:30 before they were actually asleep!

DH went back to work on Monday, their district started back earlier than ours. He has had a hard time getting back into his routine, all during break he stayed up really late and slept in too so he's really struggling!

No, my kids were off from Dec 23 to Jan 5th. DH and I love our alone time to much at night to let the kids stay up so my kids were in bed at their usual time all vacation long, 8PM. Plus we have a baby in the house that still woke up every day at 6:30AM and the older kids were soon to follow (hunger pangs getting to them :D) so it was business as usual for us all vacation long!! Which is good and bad in it's own way!!! :D

Devin's actually done really well since going back on Monday. Yesterday, we received a note from his teacher praising him for being cooperative, doing his work, and his pleasant demeanor. I want to know who took my Devin and replaced him with this pod person.

JP's been struggling. He left his homework at school on Monday, took over an hour to do yesterday's homework, has been trying to get away with not doing his nightly reading assignments and just generally giving us trouble. I want to know who took my JP and replaced him with a pod person.

Hopefully, JP will get back into the swing of things, and maybe this pod Devin will stick around. ;)

My kindergartener has had a rough time because he got used to playing all day, and is a bit sad that he "misses his toys". Now he is reduced down to about 2-3 hours of playing instead of all day. He's never really loved school anyway, so this just makes it a little more difficult to get him moving in the morning.

My high school teen has also had a rough time because he was spending a lot of time with his girlfriend and on the phone during the winter break. Now I'm having to remind him of his school priorities often.

And my college student husband has also gotten slack during his winter break. He only has 6 weeks of college left before he graduates (yay!!) but he really lost his momentum during the break and doing his homework looks even more daunting.

But I'm smiling! LOL I have a quiet house finally and can now work again!

Oh sweet lordy - YES!

Carter is a total and complete raging tantrum by 6:30 every night this week! Bedtime has been pushed up an entire 45 minutes at our house! No more of that funny-business of "playing" (*wink*)
Now it's dinner, bath, teeth, book, BED!
(if only I could go to bed when he does, I'd be in complete heaven)
