Ham Bone Recipes

I am hosting Easter for our family tomorrow, and expect to be left with a big 'ole ham bone. I am hoping to make something yummy with it... any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I just put mine in a big ole' pot of pinto beans (the dried ones, rinsed and picked over for rocks) and let them boil away all day. Serve with cornbread and enjoy! :)

Here is one I make almost every time I have leftover ham or a ham bone.

Navy Bean Soup

• 2 cups dry navy beans, soaked overnight
• 6 cups hot water
• Ham hock or 1 lb. chopped ham
• finely chopped carrots
• ½ onion, finely minced
• 2-3 cloves minced garlic, or generous sprinkling of garlic powder
• 3-4 chicken bouillon cubes
• a few turns of freshly ground pepper

Rinse beans, soak in 6 cups water overnight. Do not drain. Add remaining ingredients, cook in Crockpot on low 8-10 hours. Remove ham hock, cut into bite size pieces, return to cooker. Stir and serve with biscuits.

Ok, I swear I am not weird...

but...when I scanned the list of threads...I first thought the title of this thread was

"Human Bone Recipes"

Wouldn't it be ME that was weird, since I would have been the one starting the human bone recipe thread?? LOL! Crazy what your eyes see sometimes...

Thanks for all the great suggestions, everyone!
