hair color

I totally understand fine, curly hair, Rachel! I use very little product because it gets weighed down easily.

What a great idea for your salon to offer "at-home" kits, Anastasia! I have a friend who just turned 40 and has more gray than I do (I'm 54). I'm sorry your favorite stylist left. That's always a bummer!

Dawn, I'm glad your girls help you with coloring. I doubt I could do it on my own. LOL!

It sounds like you're making the best of growing it out, Kim! The growing out stage is always the worst!

Sheri, you are much braver than I am! LOL! I haven't cut my hair since I was a kid (and you know what kind of disaster that was). I offered to cut hubby's hair during quarantine... he turned me down. Go figure :D
I love red hair! If I could get it to look natural, I'd probably dye mine red.

Sometimes I wish I was like your grandmother... that doing my hair & nails was important. But, it's just not. I'm definitely low maintenance!

Wow Marie! That's lucky to find a shade that goes perfectly with your natural color. It's a lot less hassle that way.

Natural highlights are awesome, Kim!

Cindi, I have a high school friend who decided she was tired of coloring the gray (she was blonde with a lot of gray). She had her stylist strip the color, and her hair is white now. It looks great on her. She got a really cute cut to go with the color.

Wendy, I would love to color lavender, too!! That's a nice birthday present to yourself...getting your hair cut. I think you should add another color! That would be fun!!

I haven't colored my hair for 9 years after either doing it myself or having it done at a beauty shop for 20-25 years (had to start in my 30's). 9 years ago I was having to get it colored about every 4 to 6 weeks as the color was fading horribly. Then I ended up having a reaction to the color on my neck. The stylist (my cousin's wife who had been doing my hair for about 25 years at that time) and I decided that it was time to quit especially since my hair was not holding the color at all. Since my hair was chin length, it only took 9 months for it to grow out. So I've been completely grey for 8 years.

As for haircuts, I haven't had one in 15 months. Had to cancel the last appointment because my cousin's son was killed in a car accident and I just ended up not ever making another one. She only worked 3 hours a week and ended up only working once a month for about 5 months after her son's death. I even let my bangs grow out... I used to trim them myself. My hair is past the "drive me nuts" stage so I'll just keep letting it grow.

So now for the first time in 47 years I have no bangs. The hair is shoulder length and grey.
