GREAT news last night :)

When this deployment began we didn't think that DH would be able to have any leave..turns out he's got enough days on the ground this deployment to have 2 weeks of R&R!! So mid July he'll be able to come home for 2 whole weeks!!

Y'all I cannot tell you how wonderful this is. I have been struggling...just feeling down and like December is a hundred years away. Now knowing that we'll see him in July is going to help break up this deployment into something I feel better equipped to handle.

I don't get to talk to him much..right now he's working 15-16 hr days..doing what...I don't know and probably don't really want to know..but I'm just missing him so much. The kids being older this time around makes it easier in some ways but I feel much more "stretched thin" this time...It's hard being the Mama and the Daddy all day long. Plus we've all been sick for the past 2 weeks..everyone is cranky and just tired. I'm tired. But this is good news and hopefully it will drag me out of the funk I've been in. So 86 days and we'll see him again :)

That's wonderful news!!

I can relate to how you're feeling. I think I felt the same way throughout my husband's last deployment. He didn't take his leave until the end of his fourteen month tour, so it got so hard.

I know it would have been much harder without his R&R leave to break it up. You'll have the anticipation of it coming, the actual time, and the recovery. And then you won't have too terribly long before you can start preparing for his return.

That's great news Nikki, I so totally know how you feel! My partner went 8 times for his deployment, and god what were those months hard! In 2010 was his last time, and even now I'm still struggling when he leaves for just 3 days. He will leave the army next year, and honestly I can't wait. I'm always right behind him, and I accept his job, but I can't wait to have him home every night for diner. Those little moments I just can't miss anymore. I'm so so glad and over the moon for you!!

I'm so happy for you, Nikki!! It will be great to have that to look forward to.

That is so awesome!!! It's always nice to have something to break up that big a chunk of time - I hope it makes the year not drag by as much :)

Yeah Nikki!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is AWESOME news! I am so excited for your family. :) Hang in there. You are doing great (even though some days you don't think so). I admire your strength and courage being a military spouse. It takes a special kind of strength to do it. ((HUGS))

Yay - so happy for you! I can't imagine what you've been going through thinking you wouldn't see him for a whole year!

that's great! i remember when DH had to go to Korea for a year; but he got to come home for R&R halfway through too. it helped a lot breaking it up like that!

Oh that's awesome!! I totally understand being both parents, and the many other hats you wear during deployment!! Deployments stink, especially when you or the kiddos are sick. I am glad that he's able to come home for those two weeks. That will help you through the remainder of the deployment! You can get through these couple of months, I know you can

Thanks everyone...I actually counted wrong so it's longer than 86 days boo...but I'll just say 4 mos..that sounds way better than 9 mos lol
