Anything I have to do?

We want to go to the monuments while we're there, but I don't know what else. DH and I will probably only be there for a day and a half, we have to pick up our car from there, so any sugguestions on what we must do I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

The monuments and museums in DC can keep you busy for multiple days! Lol!

Personally I'd stick to DC. There's not a whole lot in Baltimore worthy of seeing (compared to DC - can you tell I hate Baltimore? LOL!). There's the inner harbor with the aquarium (which is awesome - but not worth driving North for an hour to see).

I was there from June 6th through the 8th. I have to say, bring an umbrella. I rained the whole time we were there. And the cheapest umbrella I could find was $14. So be prepared just in case. I flew into Baltimore. There is nothing there. But I took the Metro into DC and went to the Smithsonian. I was under the immpression that it was a museum. But it is several museums.
I highly recommend the Natural Science Museum and the American History Museum. I wasted about 6 hours between those two places.
Also, there are vendors in the park. But if you are not a hot dog girl ,go to the Ronald Regan Building. When you come out of the American history museum it is down that side street. There is a food court there. There is also food in the Post Office. You can see it from the Mall (not shopping) There is a huge old clocktower that stands taller than the other buildings. ANd PM me if you want to know anything else.

The Natural History museum is great and my favorite of the Smithsonian museums. If you like zoos, you might also want to go to the national zoo -- it's a really good zoo and free.

I would recommend the holocaust museum. It is free also. There is so much to do in DC and would take you days just to cover part of it. The walk to the Jefferson Memorial is quite a walk too. If you do, the Roosevelt Memorial is incredible to see and it is on that side of the tidal basin. Also Arlington cemetary.

I ditto Melissa's recommendation to see the Holocaust Museum. I've been there three times now, and it was actually the #1 thing to do on my boys' list the last time I took them there (2 years ago). They had been there before too...

You can buy tickets to take the trolley tour, and that's really a great way to go around, see a lot of the city. You can get off and on and catch the next trolley. I like to spend a lot of time in each area but it doesn't sound like you will have that much time.

American History is my favorite of the Smithsonian Museums, but really all of them are good. Lots of my family members like the Air and Space Museum the most. The zoo is also good. One of the nice things about all the museums and the zoo being free is that you can go see a few things that interest you in a given museum and then move on to another. For example, lots of people like to go see the Hope Diamond at Natural History but don't bother going through the other exhibits.

Two popular non-Smithsonian museums (ie, you pay for admission) are the International Spy Museum and the Newseum. I haven't made it to the Newseum yet (and probably won't until my kids are a lot older), but we went to the Spy Museum shortly after it opened and liked it a lot.

I'd agree that it isn't worth the trip to Baltimore if you're only going to be here a day and a half. The Inner Harbor is a fun place to walk around and eat this time of year (and the aquarium is awesome), but you'd have to spend too much of the trip on it to make it worthwhile.

I would say eat Crab because MD is know for their crab but since you've been living in Alaska I'm sure you had way more than you ever wanted if you like it!
Have fun!
