I finally got the first DVD of Glee the other day from Netflix! I had never seen the show before but after how everyone raved about it I thought I'd like to watch it. And it is AWESOME! :wub: So, the first DVD had 4 episodes, which I watched back to back. The second DVD comes tomorrow and I'm sure I'll do the same. :) I'm trying to find out some info without spoiling the episodes though. PLEASE DON'T SPOIL for me!! :)

So, according to Netflix, there are 4 dvds in Season 1: volume 1, and that totals 13 episodes. Apparently there is a Season 1:volume 2, but it won't tell me how many episodes or discs are in volume 2 or if it is just the bonus features and no episodes. Anyone know?

What season is Glee in? On Netflix, I can add Season 2 to my queue, but it shows as unavailable.

Now for the show questions, are those the real singing voices of the actors? Sometimes it looks like they are bad lip-syncers but the voices seem believable so I wondered.

What grade are the students suppose to be in?

Is the series set in Ohio? Somehow I thought I heard that, but I might have imagined it.

I saw a girl with a shirt that said Gleek. Is that what fans of the show are called?

Are the music CDs worth getting? Right now I have "I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore" going through my mind. Thanks Glee! LOL

Is it just me, or does the teacher have a Justin Timberlake thing going on?

uh, I had more questions but I'm blanking. Thanks if anyone can answer these without spoiling it for me! I would have searched online, but I know I'd stumble upon spoilers if I did.

To attempt to answer some of your questions:

There was the first 13 or 14 episodes, then a break, then at the moment, we're up to about episode 20 here in australia. Think maybe were a week or two behind u guys. When there was a big break, i assumed it was the end of the season. But i guess thats where the whole season 1 ,volume 1 and 2 came into it. Dont know why they did that....but yea, definately still in season 1.

I believe it is all the actors real voices. I think the bad lip-synching would come from the song being pretaped, before the acting part is taped. So technically they are lipsynching...if u get what i mean. lol.

The students are supposed to be 16...not sure what grade that would make them in the american school system. 10th grade here.

Gleek is a play on the words Glee and Geek. And yea, i think thats what alot of fans call themselves.

I hear ya on the Will looking a little justin timberlake-ish. Well justin timberlake in the n-sync days anyway. Its the curly hair, baby face thing i think.
 
I have a lot of Glee songs on my ipod... and unless you are a purist in that only XXX can sing XXX song... I think they are worth getting.

YES!! those are the real voices! some of them (rachel, mr. shue (sp?) have successful broadway careers ... they look lip-synced though b/c most of the time (all of the time?) it is recorded in a studio - it's not recorded during taping of the actual scene (if that makes sense ?! sometimes i wish it didn't sound so produced, but then it wouldn't sound as good ... hahaha)

What grade are the students suppose to be in? i think they are all juniors and below

Welcome to the addiction!! haha!! I think the other ladies answered your questions but I will just say that I LOVE the CDs and have all of them - and I have downloaded some extra songs that aren't on any of the CDs from Amazon. Totally worth it, I think!
 
We love it too...the season finale was really really good..almost all music which is the best part :) DH would kill me if he knew I told but he likes it too..he even made me burn him a copy of the soundtrack for his truck...it's hilarious to see him drive up in his uniform in his big F150 with Glee streaming out the windows lol :)

ETA: Have y'all seen these Glee flashmobs on youtube..there's a bunch of them..I think it's so cool :)

I think the bad lip syncing thing gets much better after the first few episodes - as I recall it was BAD in the first couple shows, but either I stopped noticing it or they improved.
 
I watched the cast on Oprah a few months ago and they said they film in 3 parts. They go to the studio to record the songs, then they film the dancing scenes, then they film the acting scenes. The lip syncing makes it seem cheesy but I guess with all the dancing they do it makes it hard to sing and dance at the same time.

I LURVE this show!!!! Havent watched the season finale yet because we have been obsessed with Super Mario Bros Galaxy 2 here but hopefully this weekend I can watch it!

Also, I dont download full albums from iTunes- I just get the songs that I like from there. :)
 
There are 22 episodes total. I still have them all on my DVR and they are locked until I buy the entire season on dvd.

A lot of shows have been separating their season DVDs into part 1 and part 2, because of the winter/spring hiatus shows go through... it's a great marketing tool to sell more DVDs. I know Greek had Season 1 Chapter 1 and Season 1 Chapter 2, etc. So does most shows on ABC Family, and now Fox is trying to get in on the same thing for some of it's shows, from what I've heard.

I thought they were on the older end of high school, but... (hoping this isn't spoileriffic, but it seems obvious for the most part) none of them are graduating, it looks like, so they must not be seniors. But clearly they have things figured out enough, and look old enough, not to be freshman. I'm assuming they'd be a mixed group of mostly juniors, but some sophomores? Sometimes I think Artie and whatserface could pass as sophomores...

PS... you want the CDs! Promise! I have the first one, but I definitely plan on buying ALL the others as soon as I can afford to!

I agree...hot teacher (sad when you realize the 'old guy' on the show is the one you're attracted to!)

I have several of the songs off of itunes, so I could pick the ones I reeeaaally wanted. They're pretty great ;-)
 
Another Gleek here. I absolutely love this show!! I have to watch it by myself because Dave doesn't like it. Lol. It was a great season finale. I loved the Gaga episode!

Puck=yum. I can say that. I was born in 88. His actor, Mark Salling? In 82. LOL.

Then again, Mr. Shu also hot... (1978, for those wondering).
 
Oh Julie - you will love every episode! Since I don't want to spoil anything for you I will wait for you to start the thread that says now that I finished.....we can talk lol!

I took my girls to go see the "Glee Live" tour a few weeks back and I will honestly say they sing even better than in real life. The show was awesome and it was kind of cool because they sang songs from shows that hadn't aired yet so we got kind of a preview. Of course, my girls are huge fans and often have fight over who is the best - Kurt or Finn. :p Although Mr Schuester and Sue were not in the actual show they filmed scenes to make it feel like you were watching the show live. Jessie (Jonathan Groff) made a special appearance and sang with Rachel (Lea Michele). I can't wait til it comes back on....now off to go buy the songs on Itunes from last week's show. :thumbup:

Okay..you just made me feel really old..I was 14 in 1988 lol

but yes..I'm pretty sure all of the actors are 18 and older so it's all legal lol

I think Puck has a way better voice than the other guy...love to hear him sing :)
 
Thanks everyone! :) So, I want to make sure I understand, Glee just finished their FIRST season? (since I can add season 2 to my netflix, that is confusing me. It shows as unavailable... but still that is confusing)

another question, some of the songs in the show are from the original artists. Are there CDs of those songs or just the Glee club singers? The song in my head today is Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' by Journey (and young Finn and the Emerald lawn spray guy) LOL

and anyone know if you can buy or view the episodes online? Netflix only has the first 13 episodes and I want to see them all!!!
 
Yes, the first season just ended this week. The second season won't start until fall. They've been renewed for a third season already too!

The Glee CDs are all just the Glee cast. You'll have to go for the original artists' stuff for the originals they play.

I think they just do that as a placeholder. There will be a season 2 so they allow you to add it so they have a queue for when it is released. I think it also lets them know about how much it is in demand and how many to purchase.

Thanks Amanda, that makes sense to me now. :) I had to wait months to get the first Glee disc. It was on "very long wait" forever!! So they'd better order lots of Season 1: Volume 2 and Season 2! It's really in demand!

and right now, I'm totally loving the teacher and Finn. Finn is so cute! But I can't crush on him like you all can. I have an 18 year old and his friends all look like Finn. I can't let myself start going cougar. LOLOLOL

I was thinking the same thing. It's creepier to oogle over the high schoolers (although the actor who plays Puck definitely looks older). The hot, 30-something teacher is a better bet! :thumbup:
 
oh and julie - if you don't want to wait for netflix - you can watch all the episodes on itunes (you have to pay) and hulu probably has them too - although i haven't checked ...
 
Yep hulu has the 5 most recent episodes. That's how I watch it every week. :)

And after getting that app that Amanda shared, I've come to realize I'll never be on Glee. LOl I'm HORRIBLE!
 
Yup, Hulu is the best! I didn't have cable at my apartment, so I would watch all my TV shows on there (I didn't have netflix at the time, so it was JUST hulu). It was nice to be able to watch all of my shows...

Even now that I have tv, living at my parents', I rarely have it on!
