Gah! I Need HELP!

I was having some troubles getting a couple of .zip files to open yesterday and I did something really dumb and now I don't know how to fix it.

When you right click on the .zip file (after it's downloaded), I clicked on "Open With" and then chose Internet Explorer. It changed EVERY single .zip file on my computer to this and of course, you can't extract a file with IE. It was using the Extraction Wizard before, but now that's nowhere to be found.

How do I get it to go back to the way it was (I want the cute little zipper and everything)!???

Can someone help me please??

What OS are you using? XP or Vista? You have to go in and change the file associations and how you do that depends on what version of Windows.

but in theory you should be able to right click again on the zip file and select "Select Default Program" and just go and find the winzip executable file and that should do it.

It does not give me the option to choose a default program and even at that, I can't find my Extraction Wizard (winzip?)???

winzip.exe should be in your Programs folder on the hard drive. When you go into Computer on Vista, find one of the .zip files, select it but don't double click or anything. Then on the menu bar in that window, you have an Open button. You should have the option to Select default program in there. Do you?

Right click on a zip file, select "open with" then you should see either your winzip as a choice as well as "select default program"

You can also right click on a zip file and choose properties, there you will see a line that says "opens with" with a "change" button next to it. Click on that button and you should be able to choose winzip there as well.

Hope this helps
