Gag me with a spoon!

So, we just got back from Landon's little music program at school (they did the Thriller dance...hilarious)...and I'm walking up to my front door, and my peripheral vision catches something scurrying in my path....right under my shoe...just as I made impact with the ground. I didn't feel it, but when I didn't see it continue to scurry, I turned around to look...it was a little lizard...all mushed on my porch now. I am so grossed out. I stepped out of my shoes the sec the door was opened, and I think they are finding their way into the trash bin.

That's all my kids could say, Kellie. I can't stand critters, so I'm not entirely sorry it's dead...but it looks like roadkill.

Are they shoes you like? Just have one of the kids scrape him off in the lawn and then hose down the sole of the shoe. No biggie :)

Krystal, hate to tell you I am LOLing at you! Your poor shoes! I hope they...I mean you...aren't too traumatized. :p

OMG! that's gross! LOL!

Poor little thing... :(

ITA with Meems though...I think that the shoes are the real victim in this story! hahahah! :p

You guys are funny! I totally LOL'd at Angie's comment. I feel ya!

Well, fortunately the shoes were well-worn flip flops that really needed to go away regardless of the afore-mentioned lizard-mashing incident. This was just a catalyst to help me part with them.

I would have felt the same way if it had been a mouse.

I'd still be scraping the skin off the bottoms of my feet, actually, in a hot shower with a powerful loofah if that had actually happened tonight.

*barf noise* .... I can't even bare the thought, Krystal. It reminds me of a time I stepped on a huge cockroach at my cousin's house barefoot.

Dang! Those things are usually pretty darn fast, I can't believe you mushed one! YUCK! Do you have a cat you can let do cleanup duty? ;)

We do have a cat, but I never let her outside. Fortunately, the food chain and/or the sprinkler system did the dirty work. No roadkill this morning. Nice!

Gross!!!!!

Can I just say...we have found 2 lizards IN our house and at least 3 outside???? I haven't stepped on them, but it's grossing me out big time and I'm afraid there's millions roaming our walls looking for holes to come freak me out more!

Eww!

Last night as I walked in the kitchen something moving caught my eye....ugh, one of those nasty wolf spiders. ICK!!

I sprayed around the house and it isn't stopping them. I got the spray out and he went under the dishwasher. Hopefully it killed it because it looked as though it has a sack of eggs on it. :w00t:

Have you girls ever seen a wolf spider? They are creepy!!!

We've had lizards in the house every now and again. My kids think they are cool and just pick them up and take them outside...after the cat has been entertained for hours, of course.

My conversation with my daughter (13 y/o) on the way to school:

Me: Did you see the lizard was gone?
Avery: ugh! Don't remind me. I can't believe you killed a lizard [she loves all God's creatures...except bugs]
Me: It's not my fault it ran under my foot.
Avery: Instinct, Mom.
Me: I would think instinct would tell it to run AWAY from the 8 feet walking in its direction.
Avery: Maybe it was bored.
Me: Maybe it had a friend double dog daring it to cross the sidewalk when the humans were coming. Look at what it got him.
Avery: Maybe it was his friends who carried him away for a burial.
Me: Or maybe he was somebody's dessert. :P
Avery: Ewwww.
