From PC to Mac- transfering files

If I organize and tag all my scrap stuff using Bridge on my PC, when I start using my Mac, will all those tags transfer to my newer version of Bridge? Also, I store all my scrap stuff on an EHD, is there anything special I need to do to be able to use the files on my Mac? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to Macs so sorry if my questions are silly. :o
 
Depending on the format of the EHD you might only be able to open and use the files on the mac but not save to the EHD. It doesn't effect you scrapping with the kits and stuff you just can't save say your layouts or something to the EHD.
 
I don't have the answer about the EHD... I use an EHD and a mac but I just don't want to steer ya wrong.
However, on the bridge part.... yes, if you tag your stuff on one version and then upgrade, your tags will remained intact. I went from CS4, to CS5 to CS6 and my tags have always remained intact.

Hmm, do you know why that is? And do you know what I'd have to do to be able to store my pages on an EHD from the Mac?

Laura, you would just need to format an EHD. When I got mine, I came home and plugged it into my mac, formatted it and I read and write to it, no problem.

I have an EHD that works with both. It is a Seagate GoFlex FreeAgent drive. I can plug it into a Mac or PC and both read and write. I believe that you have to get an EHD that is designed to do this and if I remember correctly, we had to format it first on the Mac.

Edited to add that I have had this for a year or two and things may be different with new operating systems, but I know we had to specifically look for a drive that would work with both.

FAT32 format will save on from a PC or Mac

NTFS will only write with a PC

sorry I shoulda clarified what I meant. You can make sure it's formatted FAT32 then save your stuff on it and it'll work on the Mac and PC. FWIW the 3 I have bought have all come already FAT32 formatted
