Free email program?

Are there any free email programs out there that work similar to Outlook? I would like something that has a calendar feature like Outlook does along with just a general email program.

Anyone know of any?

Firefox has Thunderbird (email) and Lightning (calendar). I haven't used them but they seem pretty popular.

We use Gmail... and they have calendar feature that is pretty cool in that you can share with other gmail users.. so your daughters could put their plans on a master calendar that everyone in the family can see/edit.

I use Gmail for personal email. Wouldn't have it any otherway - I love that I can access it anywhere.

For work email & calendar, I use Thunderbird & Lightning. I recently switched from Outlook and its much more streamlined.

I used to use Thunderbird, but I didn't like the fact that I couldn't export a PST to be used with other mail systems. Right now (since I'm lazy), I use Windows Live Mail, though I don't think it has a calendar; pretty sure there's an offering from Windows Live for a calendar as well, but Lightning is much better.

Also, I like to use my hybrid calendars and planners better.

another vote for gmail!!! It's amazing! you can do it all with google. I recently have been enjoying google docs as well. I don't have to worry about my files getting lost if something happens to the computer, and I can share them as well! (I don't know anything about outlook to compare it to, but I love it!)
