Formula strike?

Okay, Parker will be 9 months next week and I've just now weaned him to formula. He's doing okay, and has been on 95% formula for about 2 weeks now. He still nurses every day but it's only one session at night.

He's being SO weird today, he won't have a bottle! He's had normal bowel movements and some wet diapers. He is acting fine, eating fine (he's been on table food for about 6 weeks now, the little bugger), and generally, just...fine!

But, he has not had a bottle all day. At all. I've gotten him to take 2 oz of two bottles. I'd imagine it's an ear infection or something but he is acting well!

Is this normal? Is he just fulfilled on table food this particular day? I want him to drink a bottle and go to bed, and he won't. LOL. He won't drink it, he's just sitting here playing.

I would guess he's just full on other foods - I assume you're giving him solids? If he's eating those well, he should be OK...may end up a little constipated or have trouble pooping tomorrow, though?

Rae did this, and even now, will not drink milk. Once I weaned her at 10 months, it was difficult to get her to drink any formula or milk....and I don't know what happened or why.

Perhaps he just doesn't like it that well? I don't know, I'm still at a loss with Rae at age 4 LOL.

have you tried him on a sippy? when ce was 4-5 months old.. I thought he was refusing formula.. but he was jsut refusing the bottle and switched to a nuby then.. lol just a thought. one of the 34634 possibilities it could be.

I agree with trying a sippy cup.. You never know. Also ditto on maybe eating too much table food. If he is not cranky then those are options.

Hrm.

I just gave him a bottle of baby juice, 4 oz (some say not to ever put juice in a bottle, but meh, i'm just trying to get fluids down him).

He guzzled it down. And now is hyper.

Avery started refusing a bottle at 10 mos. He was eating table food mostly anyway so I just quit offering him one and started him on a sippy. So yeah..sounds normal to me :)

Since he drank the juice, maybe he just doesn't like the formula. Does he refuse you when you nurse him? I have heard of lots of kids refusing the bottle when they were breastfeed first. They normally like it better. Otherwise, I don't really know, they are so hard to know then.

My 2 oldest went from breast to cup at about 10 months - never had a bottle. They never had formula either. So if he doesn't like it, see if you can start him on milk - ask the doctor.

This was my guess too, especially since he's still nursing some.

I was thinking the sippy cup idea too until you said he drank the juice from the bottle. I'm now more apt to think he doesn't like the forumla.
