For those with a significant other.

My husband and I met at a mutual friends wedding. He was a groomsmen and looking all sexy in his wranglers and tuxedo top. We ended up dancing together and then going for a walk on the lake. We finally sat down on one of the boat docks and talked for a while. We shared our first kiss on that dock. We have been together ever since.

September 24, 1994 - Apache Junction, Arizona - the street in front of my aunt's house

We were friends, had known each other through high school but never dated or anything, kept in touch through letters for over a year after I graduated and moved away, but then lost touch for a year. I went home for a friend's wedding. He was there. He was the first person I saw as I walked up to my friend's parents' house that morning (the wedding was in their yard). He ran and gave me a big hug. We spent a lot of time talking throughout the day. We sat together during the reception (along with his fiancee). I went to their house after and we hung out a few more hours. He offered to drive me 'home' to my aunt's house where I was staying. We stood outside in the street in front of my aunt's talking for over an hour, catching up, reminiscing about high school, etc. He got really serious all the sudden, told me I was his best friend and kissed me. Five days later he was no longer engaged and he asked me to move in with him. A month later he moved to Kansas to be with me.

It was meant to be from the start. When we started writing to one another after I moved away we got to know each other pretty well. He spilled his heart in to those letters and I did the same. I got a letter from him every other day or so, thick envelopes so heavy they required extra postage. We 'talked' about absolutely everything. I really felt like we should be together. I remember making him a mix CD with some songs to that effect on it. He wrote 'I love you' on the bottom of one of the last cards he sent me before we lost touch. A friend of mine who seems to 'know' things before they happen told me I'd see him when I was gone and we'd get together.

Strange thing is... my husband doesn't write. He barely jots down 2 words on paper. He also doesn't save anything. He's not sentimental at all. However, he had written me all those letters AND he saved EVERY single letter I had ever written him. He even saved a couple of notes I gave him in high school (silly stuff, nothing personal at all in them). The first time I met his mom was 5 months after we moved in together (because she was in Arizona and he had moved to Kansas) and she told me at that point that she knew we were meant to be together when I sent him the very first letter and he asked her to send it to him in Pennsylvania where he was visiting his dad. She said he had never asked for any of his other mail to be forwarded, including stuff from his girlfriends. She also said he never kept anything but what I sent.

What a beautiful story Sherri. Definitely meant to be.

<3 <3 <3 these all warm my heart!! thanks for sharing girls!

Who all is itching to go on a date with their loves now? LOL :)

Oh what a fun thread! I sat here and read every one of these and I have stuff I really should be doing! haha!

My hubby and I had our first kiss on our fourth date. I had just about given up on him. I didn't think it was EVER going to happen. He's kind of a sweet and shy guy :) We had gone out hiking and built a fire to sit by and he asked me what I was thinking. I boldly said "I was wondering if you were ever going to kiss me" and he leaned right over and did it!! haha! That was about 17 years ago :)

Oh what a fun thread to read.....I remember it was on our first date but it was more a peck to test if I would hit him! He knew I was mad that he talked through the movie (Sleepless In Seattle) we saw so he was trying to make up for it. lol. Guess he did since I kept him!
