Fleas. Ugh.

Thanks for reminding me to get new collars for my cats! :D

Sorry thought that you're going through the flea thing - it totally sucks.

fleas in the house or on your pets? We give our dogs a chewable pill once a month which kills fleas within thirty minutes of being on them. It also kills a good percentage of parasites as well. It is called Trivexis. Now in the house if you have carpeting supposedly boric acid kills them. You can get it in a powder, sprinkle it on the carpet and then vaccum. For the cats we use Adam's flea spray. They seem to get them more then the dog and I dont think they make the medication for them. Hope you got rid of them wherever they are

If they're in the house - you'll also need to be vacuuming in about 7-10 days - we did it more often than that. They lay eggs fast that hatch later and re-infest if you don't clear them out. Ask us how we know :( And we didn't even have pets!

Ugh, what a pain! Good luck, I hope you get em all!!!
I'm so glad our indoor cat has never had fleas. We take drastic measures to make sure our dog doesn't get them either. She's an Old English Sheepdog, so we keep her hair very short in the warm seasons, and use frontline, the stuff you put on the back of their neck. We just reapply once a month of so... she's almost 4 and hasn't had fleas. We also don't have carpeting, so that's a plus there too :)

We use Trifexis on ours...it's $$$ but it's by far the best thing we've tried. It's heartworm and flea control in 1 chew

Meg you can save money on it buying it through 1800petmeds. We pay 100 something I think for 6 months supply but it is worth it!!

I pay like 120/6 months and my vet usually gives me a 25-30 rebate card for it :) 1 box only lasts me 3 months though b/c both dogs take it and are in the same weight range. Could be worst..at least I don't have to buy 2 diff boxes at the same time I guess lol

I dont know if my vet gets a kickback from the mfr or not b/c they will match any online price I find

Well, she is allergic which means one bite makes her CRAZY itchy. Before we realized it last year she ripped a ton of her fur out! The vet combed her for a long time before he could even find one flea. So I'm not worried about any kind of infestation and the other dogs are fine (whew!) I vacuum everyday RELIGIOUSLY and my furniture is leather so I think I'm good. I gave her a bath and treated all the dogs yesterday and made her stay in the laundry room all day.

Hopefully I'm in the clear!

I see the 1 800 Petmeds ads all the time on TV but have never actually looked into it. I might do that.

I buy our advantage through 1800petmeds too. It's a little cheaper than our vet..I'm interested in this trifexis stuff though. He gets a shot every 3 mos for heartworms ..I really like that b/c I don't have to remember to give him something by mouth.

It's really important...we found this out the hard way...our 13 year old cocker spaniel passed away in April due to heart worms. We were usually good about remembering his meds but not always and all it took was one missed dose and one infected mosquito.
