Finding things that are photo-worthy

Some days I seem to go through the everyday list of things that I need to do and may never look for hidden gems to photograph. I can come home from an evening out and think "oh, I should have gotten some photos". I am on a mission today to take a few photos of things that I might have missed or overlooked. I would love to see a special photo you took today! I will share mine soon!

Sadly my camera roll tends to have lots of pictures of tags I can't read, items I need my husband to grab at the store and screenshots of memes I want to share with my kids lol I need to be better about taking pictures when I'm together with family and friends.

The last photo I took is of our dog doing "stretches" with my daughter. Unfortunately, I am under strict orders not to share them!

I have found more in the past few years, that I put my phone away and just enjoy the moment in some instances. I may get home and realize I didn't take any photos...but that's ok! I am making memories and that is what matters too!

I created a page after a hard drive crash, when I lost a ton of photos and layouts. I went through my calendar and wrote down everything that happened in the timeframe that I lost. It is all in a list on the page. That page will eventually go in an album where those photos would have been. While I don't have the photos, I will hopefully remember the moment with just the words that were written down.

I can relate. I have some really weird photos on my phone like the type of dog food I need my husband to get etc. I really need to clean out my camera roll! :)

That is a great idea. I am glad you wrote events down but am so sorry to hear you lost so many photos. I found out my parent's photo albums were thrown away after they passed away. I was so sad. :(

I don't know that I'd call these special, but here's my most recent camera roll pics:

The charity I work for has just finished building an Early Learning Centre and Family Support Centre for the soldiers at our local base. I've been taking photos of things to fix (warped stair treads), progress photos of concrete work, delivered furniture, and I'm attempting to do floating shelves on one of the walls, so I did a mock layout of how the items might sit on the shelf. None of this is scrapworthy, but once the centres are fully finished and dressed up, I'll likely scrap some of those photos.

Oh, Jacinda! That is so wonderful and for such a worthy cause! I think all of this and the story behind it is totally newsworthy!!

I used to take photos of everything… now that kiddo is in college and I’m working full time, photos aren’t being taken and memories not remembered. It’s really weighing on me. :(

I definitely don't take anywhere near the photos I used to, and have to remind myself to do so these days.

This is not one I took today (a couple of years ago actually), but I just took a screenshot of it the other day - it's a friend's goat which has been been the wallpaper on my phone for ages and makes me smile every time I see it :)

I try to remember to take photos of things that I like. Yesterday I texted a photo of hail on the windshield with an admission that maybe, just maybe, I should have stayed in Target until the Severe Thunderstorm Warning had passed. (I didn't get hit by hail, thank goodness, but it was close.)

I'm trying to remember to take photos of things for pages I want to make, like trying my son's adaptive stroller in the trunks of a bunch of used cars so we can eventually get a vehicle we can take his chair in.

Three years ago I learned about Polarsteps. That year we made a few shorter trips, like weekend getaways, that I documented on Polarsteps. I really liked using that app, way better than FB or IG, to document things.
So in 2024 I started with creating a yearbook (which happened to be a very eventful year). This way I try to take photos of the big things, days out, vacation trips, etc., but also all those simple and little things I come across (like sunsets, flowers, my dog on his daily walk). It really helps to look for those hidden gems, to enjoy daily life, as well. It's like a diary with photos and words. And it feels safe, because only those who I've admitted can read and see what I've been up to.

Anyway, yesterday I had a day with our church council and we walked through apple orchards while talking to each other.

I've never heard of this app. It sounds like a great tool! I'm going to check it out.

My camera roll lately has been less people & places and just our new floors and the process of the installation. With our kids all grown & gone, I don't take as many people photos. I need to remember to do that!

I used to have a similar app a long time ago but unfortunately all my content disappeared when I changed my phone at the time so I was soooo sad. I did it for several years til my pregnancy. It is a great experience!☺️

It’s not a special photo but I love watching my daffodils growing up so can’t help to take it in pictures 🤣 I also have one of my DD discovering new stuff toys tonight.

My camera roll is filled with the photos of my loved ones, places we went to and some daily captures too. Scrolling through it makes me smile and happy. XYZ also loves scrolling through my camera roll just to have some giggles watching funny videos of hers and her grandparents, or even just to look at the photos because she misses them.

Oh I saw your photo and it threw me back to memory lane where I grew up at my dad's apple orchard. It looked exactly like these rows. Thanks for sharing

I work at a non-profit cat rescue, so the majority of my pictures are of the cats lol this is Katniss <3

He must have been living in/near the Betuwe! We have many orchards here, but I'm on the edge ot the Betuwe. We tend to have mostly apples and pears here, but also cherries and plums. I can't wait for the trees to blossom, I just saw the first buds appearing (no wonder with the lovely weather these few days).
