KristinCB and I have both been without internet today for almost TEN freakin' hours!!! Our lovely internet provider (which also happens to be our phone and mobile phone provider here! ARGH!!) had some technical difficulties. I was at work when it went down, so I spent half my day not doing my actual job (guess I'll have lots to do Monday morning when I go in, since it didn't come back on before the warehouse guy went home this evening. lol). Couldn't even forward the work phone to warehouse guy's cell, cause all cells were down too, no service.

So ... I wanna know ...

What's the longest your 'net has ever been down due to provider "technical difficulties"????

I don't remember how long it was.. but it happened like 6 months ago. What was it 2 days? 3 days? :D it was ANNOYING

A couple days. We are in a rural area, and the wireless tower is at the top of a mountain. First they had to wait for repair parts to arrive, and then for the next day so they could get up there in daylight (it was winter)

A few days back in 2003, but I think a hurricane going right over the city is a good excuse. LOL

I'm trying to think what's been the longest for me. There was that time when the road construction crew ripped the Shaw cable right out of my house, so no internet or phone... this was only a few days after they broke my water main... yeah, they had some serious kissing up to do.

That was a few hours at least. Any down time is too much!

Well at least my phone and internet provider got it right--we have no phone service (landline) until Monday when the repair person comes, but the internet connection is working perfectly!

I've actually been pretty impressed with our DSL provider. Since we switched 3 years ago, we've hardly had any downtime. An hour or so from time to time. Now the hotel we were at a few weeks ago which advertised free wireless internet...that was a joke and probably the longest I've gone without internet access in 11+ years. The signal was so weak in our room that I couldn't stay connected for more than a couple of minutes, so we effectively had no internet access all week.

Right after we moved here I was without internet for 2 solid months. Apparently we live in the boonies and they didn't have the actual infrastructure (the lines or whatever it is they need to actually get the services to the people) to get us set up. We had to wait until they did. I wanted to die. Especially because we really aren't in the boonies...it was just a new construction area at the time.

Ummm back in 2004 we had no internet for like a week, no power, no phone not nothing because of hurricanes. It took them forever it seemed to get it all back up. Aside from that instance Id say 24 hours is the most. Or just under 24 hours anyhow because when I called to complain they said as long as its under 24 hours they will not offer a credit. I guess that means if they allow a few hours in between down times you still have to pay full price? LOL No really though my internet is pretty reliable...we have little minor bleeps here and there but for the most part it is always there.

The longest I've been without internet from the SAME company you use, lol...22 hours.

One time, before I was even married, some idiot knocked over a power pole just outside my apartment and I was without power for 3 DAYS. 3 DAYS, people. But because it happened at like 5pm, they didn't want to come fix it right then, oh no...wait until the next morning to attempt fixing it. And then they didn't finish it in the 2 hours they worked on it that day (you know, total...between breaks and stuff), so then it got pushed to the next day. Then the next.

Oh, but my new ISP actually was down for several days at a time - sometimes the tower just stops working (or the whole network goes down...or there are trees in the way because it's spring and they just put it up at the easiest spot in the winter so they wouldn't fall off your icy roof), but the longest was when it got hit by lightning, lol. I think it took 5 days to get it back up and running.

HOLY CRAP!!! Three days?? And here I was thinking its bad when someone hit a pole down the road and we were without power for like six hours. Our power company must be pretty awesome then because they were even out restoring power in the tropical storm/hurricanes when the winds were not to severe. Wowww three days...that is really something. I think I would have been on the phone every hour or two biotching at them til they got off their lazy butts to fix it.

It was 4-5 days last winter. We had a sudden warm day in Dec, and we got a butt load of freezing rain. Then the temp dropped, everything was a skating rink!

It knocked down some of the main power lines, and took that long to repair. There was a few hour window in between, DH had to stay (in our house with no heat) because he's a cop and it was considered an emergency situation, but I packed up the kids and took off to Tony's parents. We were lucky we did, the power stayed off for 3 extra days after that.

2 days and I almost crawled out of my skin because it was so frustrating! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Glad you finally got your internet back Sonja and KCB! It would have been so sad to wake up this morning and not see a KCB kit in the store!!

The longest I have been without internet I think at home was about an hour or so in July when we lost power during stormy weather which meant our cordless phones & router went out as well so not really an ISP problem but still frustrating none the less. The only good thing was I was heading to work so it didn't really impact me very much

I have been without internet for a little more than a week once...we live in a very rural area and our wireless antenna was down. I wish I was digi-scrapping then, I could have gotten a lot done!

Mine wasn't due to technical difficulties as much as it was due to stinkin dialup in a hotel when we first moved here and it was about a week. LOL
