So, they announced who's been cast to play Christian and Ana in the Fifty Shades movie....I don't agree with either choice at all. Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson??

I've recently been told I'm not allowed an opinion since I've never read the books nor do I plan on seeing the movie. lol

I agree with Tanyia. LOL I read the books to see what all the hype was about. I can't imagine I'll work up the desire to see the movie at all.

(FWIW though, I agree with you, Laura, about the casting).

I haven't read the books, and don't plan on seeing the movie, but I definitely agree with your choice of male actor. ;) LOL!

Well...I've read the three books and these are not the actors I'd pick. Oh well...not sure I'll really ever see the movie(s) either. I personally think all three books can be condensed to one movie.

ok, don't shoot: I like the books and I'm curious to see the movies AND I *LOVE* Jax! (and I don't like Eric!) LOL
can we still be friends? lol

I never read the books, but I don't like Eric either.

Don't know the other guy, but when Matt Bomer was floating around the rumor mill I was really considering reading & watching. ;)

When I used to watch Sons of Anarchy he looks big, thick! I think he'd have to lose alot of weight.
The girl, really she looks in her thirties not early twenties :| shrug

I'm going to wait to see the trailer b4 I judge anymore b/c I do want to see the movie but I may go on a Tuesday where I'll only have to pay 5 bucks and won't feel to bad spending that much o_0

What's funny is she's 23 where Alexis Bledel is 31 so she's at least the right age. I haven't read the books so I don't really have an opinion other than I'm not surprised they didn't cast any well known actors/actresses. This movie has the potential to go bad really quickly.

Alexis could pass for 23 :o but the other girl, nahhh.

I thought of her too for this role.
She's a good description of Anastasia, college student, brunette, pale skin, eyes, IMO.
Michelle Trachtenberg

I see it going bad too....

I'll prolly wait til I can get it from Redbox for $2. lol I'm definitely curious as to how they're going to make this story presentable enough for mainstream.

Don't know either of the actors they chose. Would have liked to see it stay on the pages because they're going to have to censor it so much to stay with an R rating. I've definitely read better but the series has helped so many other authors become more popular and that makes me happy.

Well, I did actually read the first book. Aloud, to my best friend, as we laughed our butts off. I also didn't quite feel like the portrayal of bdsm was really what I hoped it would be. That said, it isn't the worst I've read...

Anyway, I'm curious to see the movie, how they make it presentable enough, and I don't see their casting choices as being the right ones.

I agree with Ashley or Alexis or Michelle, above. I honestly pictured Ana as way younger-- like, Lucy Hale sort of younger...

I didn't read the books and have no interest in the movie, but I also think the actress they chose looks way older than 23! Seems like an odd choice based upon the description of the character.

I'm about to totally admit my cultural ignorance here but I don't know who any of these actors are. :) I just can't see how they can turn the books into a movie and have it be about anything really unless they are going for porn and really... why haven't they? There is a decent segment of the porn industry that does movies 'for women' as they put it that have you know...PLOTS to them beyond 'pizza guy shows up to sorority and lots of sex ensues' like regular porn. Those books would be perfect for that segment.

I just can't imagine the R rated version will be anything more than "very loosely based upon" the books.

ITA. I feel like it'd be the only way to really do as much justice to the original story. And it isn't like they're not working with companies in that market-- doesn't 50 shades have a partnership with a "toy" brand that is scheduled to release in the near-ish future? To me, that makes more sense...

Then again, there are movies out there that have shown quite a bit of full-frontal and have been pretty up-front about the sex, so they may be able to get at least some of that content in the film and still maintain that R rating.
