Favorite inexpensive shampoo/conditioner?

My hair doesn't feel dry when it is actually dry, but after washing, it just feels dry to me. idk what the problem is, but it's so hard to brush through. I thought it was my shampoo/conditioner, I had been using Pantene b/c I got it cheap, lol. I switched to Tresemme b/c my SIL swears by it. It hasn't helped.

Do you love your shampoo/conditioner? What do you use?

I absolutely love my Pantene lol. I use the flat to volume kind. I used probably more conditioner than shampoo tho lol
 
Garnier Fructis Sleek and Smooth Conditioner(or something like that).

I'm crazy and don't shampoo my hair anymore.

I usually scrub my scalp with cheap Suave Naturals conditioner, and then put in a ton of the Garnier Fructis and comb through my hair with a wide tooth comb. It's full of good moisturizing oils, and no silicones that make my hair feel like straw.

If I do start noticing buildup, I wash my hair with apple cider vinegar. Probably about once a month or so.

Did you hear that episode of The Digi Show where Peppermint chose the Wet Brush as her pick of the week? It sounded pretty awesome, but I don't brush my hair. ;)
 
I've really like a few of the Suave Professional line. They tell you which designer brand they're supposed to be like, and I have to say that I think they do a great job. I've used the sleek kind and the volumizing kind.
 
I used to use Herbal Essences and my hairdresser thought I was using some professional product as she couldn't believe how great it worked with my hair.

Ditto this. I've been doing this method for nearly a year now and my hair is much healthier, shinier, and easier to manage.
 
I change every other week because my hair seems to get used to the conditioner/shampoo but I am trying this new shampoo conditioner called healthy scalp or something like that? But I use Dove, Pantene, Aussie Moist and Tresseme. Because I switch so often we have several types of shampoo and conditioner and I always buy the big bottles because they are the best value. Because the guys here use Axe a big bottle of shampoo can last me six months or so because I only wash my hair every three or four days. Sometimes more often if it is a little oily but I dont like putting chemicals in my hair. I dont use hairspray or gel or mousse and usually let it air dry unless I want to straighten it then I blow it dry.
 
I swtiched from Pantene to Tressemme and love it.....my stylist told me it was one of the better shampoos and conditioners for colored hair unless you wanted to spend an arm and a leg!
 
I was hating how my hair felt for a while, too, but I got a great new haircut and started using Biolage. Its not cheap, but its been so worth it. My hair feels amazing again.
 
Curly hair gets dry very easily, so I use products that are sulfate and silicone free. (There are lists online about exactly what ingredients are sulfates and silicones.) A lot of people who are sulfate and silicone free don't shampoo, but I use an organic, sulfate-free shampoo instead and use it sparingly. (ie, 2-3 days a week) My hair has been much less dry since I started this about 3 years ago.

My shampoo, California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo and Bodywash, isn't super low cost, but the 19 oz bottle lasts me many months. I really love my conditioner, Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner. I get them both at Target, but the shampoo is in the baby area and the conditioner is in the organic beauty aisle. If you decide to try going sulfate and silicone free, you'd probably need to change your styling products too because they likely have silicones.
 
I have never gotten such compliments from my hair girl before - she says my hair is in such good shape! the difference is that i've been using Dove Shampoo and Finesse Conditioner. I definitely recommend them both!
 
I have SUPER thick, coarse and lots and lots of hair. It is super dry too. I use Aussie Moist or Smooth..whichever I can find. I LOVE Bedhead products but that stuff is too expensive. I use three times as much conditioner as shampoo.
 
Biolage. It's not cheap, cheap. But, it's not the most expensive either. My hair is very fine and gets really static-y in the winter, and Biolage is the only thing I've found to keep it under control.
 
Another vote for Aussie Moist. That's what I use. My daughters use the Suave Professionals version of Humectant. Good stuff. We have lots of thick, dry hair in my family.
 
Oh, I know what you mean... my hair is getting so dry! But I know mine is mostly because of the pool. Thanks for the sulfate and silicone free suggestions! I was at Target the other day and had no idea where to look since I couldn't find it in shampoo row... :blink:
 
Thank you girls!!!! I am glad to know that some of you have the same problem and have found solutions! When I get paid Friday, I'm definitely checking these out!

To help protect your hair while you're in the pool, at least wet it down with regular water first. For an extra coat of protection put on some cheap (like Suave or V05) conditioner first. Best protection is a swim cap, but that's not always cute. ;) My hair is a frizzy mess for a week after going in the pool. Those chemicals are harsh!

Just a note to anyone who goes Sulfate free, make sure that NONE of your other products have Silicones in them. Some silicones are water soluble, but most aren't, and need the sulfates to wash them out. Silicones are the most common reason that a product builds up. Also, by taking out the sulfates from my washing routine, I have to put spend extra time scrubbing my scalp. I tried to go shampoo free while my "moisturizing" conditioner was turning my hair to straw with all of its silicones (about 3...I would much rather have 3 moisturizing oils in my hair).
 
I heard, this weekend, about the "tresseme". so, its good??
my hair needs to change my shampoo and conditioner all the time!! I'm thinking in buy these. :)
 
I've been really tempted lately to go shampoo free. As it is I wash my hair every 4-6 days during the winter. During the summer I have to wash it more often because I sweat more often and my scalp tends to sweat too but I still try to only wash it ever 3 days or so. I've done this my whole life so its nothing new to me but I really hate putting chemicals of any kind on my hair (I rarely ever use hair spray or any other hair product). The crazy part is, now that my hair is shorter again, I'm fighting oil in it. When it was longer I didn't have that problem. Now it is oily everywhere except right at the scalp which is really dry. I've been using some dry scalp shampoo but that isn't helping the oil.

I have very fine hair but I have tons of hair so it is super thick. The individual strands are baby fine but I just have a lot of it. My hairdresser told me I have enough hair in the back of my head for 4 people, let alone the front. It also has curl to it and I tend to need a lot of conditioner. Has anyone tried coconut oil or different things like that for conditioning? I've been considering it lately.
 
I use the Suave Everlasting Sunshine shampoo and conditioner. I love the smell and it keeps your hair smelling nice all day. It leaves my hair soft and shiny. I do use a touch of shine spray. It's like only $1.50 or less for big family size bottles.
