Favorite Android Apps?

My Mother's Day present came a little late this year, but I'm not complaining. It's a seven inch Android tablet. I love my iPad but to be honest, it's too big and heavy to carry around in my purse and the Mini was just too expensive, but my phone was too small to really enjoy using. My tablet is the size of a paperback book and I don't feel silly carrying it around with me. I am actually quite pleased and really like the widgets. (Love having my daily schedule pop up on the screen when I turn it on. I'm starting to feel organized again!)

So, Android users, I'd love to hear what your favorite apps and widgets are! I've downloaded Amazon Kindle, Pinterest, Spotify, Overdrive, Netflix, Hulu, Any.do, and Zinio, etc. I'm especially interested in your favorite free apps, but if there's a great paid app, let me know. I love to listen to podcasts and haven't quite decided which app is best.

I asked DH, and then he wrote this up for me:

Dashclock widget - allows you to replace your lock screen with different downloadable extensions like calendar or weather (I think it might only work with jellybean or higher)

Cloud Print - by google

aCalendar - As far as design goes, it's kind of clunky. But I like it better than stock calendar because the month view actually shows events rather than just a dot. Also it has a widget in many sizes

Chrome Browser - by google, syncs with the tabs and bookmarks on your computer

Dropbox - especially with auto uploading your camera photos

ES File Explorer - super powerful tool for managing files. Also can sync with your dropbox, google drive, skydrive etc, lan-wan network

Endomondo Sports Tracker - my favorite app for run tracking. There's a paid and free version. It syncs to their website if you have a login which keeps really nice stats

Google Keep - sticky note type interface, to do list. Really useful widget. Syncs to google drive. I like it a ton better than evernote because it's so simple.

Google voice - if you use it

Google hangouts - video and text chat with google accounts

iHeartradio or Tunein Radio - both equally good for listening to radio stations on the internet

Songza - like pandora but more fun

MX Player - a great video player

Pocket Casts - by shiftjelly - super good podcast client. Native variable speed playback, syncs with your tablet or other devices, super awesome smart playlists, worth the $3.99

Settings extended - a customizable notification bar widget for turning things off and on, like wi-fi, bluetooth, flashlight, autorotate, etc

Super Gnes - paid app for playing super nintendo games (if you're into that)

Team Viewer - remote desktop access

Toddler Lock - lock your phone down and give it to your baby for fun colors and sounds

UNIQLO Wake up - an alarm clock that plays a different fun song depending on the weather

You Need A Budget (YNAB) - super useful budgeting companion app to the desktop application. Don't buy the app unless you own the $40 desktop application.

He has an Android phone and just rooted our Kindle Fire so that it'll run Android apps from the Google Play Store too. He's a Kindle and Android nerd and listens to podcasts for both. He highly recommends his podcast app as he usually doesn't like to pay for apps, but that one does everything he wants in a podcast app. I haven't used it to compare with the iPhone's app (which I LOVE!).
