Fall Break plans

I really tried to plan a trip somewhere...
I researched lots of places
Vegas
Dollywood
Disneyland
PNW
San Diego

but I think we are just going to stay home- a staycation! And take a couple day trips.

What is everyone else doing?

We're going to 2 National Wildlife Refuges (and maybe a state park too) on Black Friday. We visited the state park earlier this month and my son has been asking every day since to visit the refuges. All 3 are next to each other and are about 2 hours away from home so this time we're packing what we need to make a full day of it.

Google Photos reminded me that 3 years ago we were in Key Largo for my husband's birthday and I wish I was there right now.

I love staycations! We aren't going anywhere. My hubby has to work M-W anyway. Daniel has to work Thanksgiving night (he's a stocker at Wal-Mart) and he has a few more nights to work as well. Olivia has the week off, so I know she and I will end up doing something.

Since Mama passed away in March, it's been hard around birthdays and other events. She loved to cook and to be together. We've ended up venturing out from our normal, and we'll do that at Thanksgiving. We ARE planning on doing our Pie Day on Wednesday, but I'm still not sure what pies we are making. On Thanksgiving Day, we're having Italian Thanksgiving. Lasagna, salad, bread sticks, and then whatever sweet treats we've made from Wednesday.

I'm going to miss having cornbread dressing and cranberry relish, amongst all the other things Mama made. But we'll try for that next year or at Christmas.

Oh yes! Friday I'll start decorating for Christmas!

I work M-W, then have a four day weekend. Sister #3 cooks, and I always bring sweet potatoes and another side or two.

Hopefully the GK will be free on Sunday to come decorate the tree, I'm putting it up this weekend so it will have time to un-scrunch.

My son and I have to work M-W. My hubby works for the school district, so he'll be off all week. It's just going to be us three. We want to eat Thanksgiving lunch, just relax, nap, and watch the Dallas Cowboys game, which more than likely won't be pretty. lol Then I'll be ready for online shopping!

My husband works in the shipping industry, so this is his busy time, no time off for him until after Christmas! :( Two of the girls will be home from College (the one in CA won't be home until Christmas, but is going to Newport Beach with her friend for the week). The girls are working a couple days at the Bakery to get some more spending money for Christmas. We'll have Thanksgiving at my inlaws, maybe some shopping on Friday, and putting up the tree and decorations on friday or Sat. The boyfriend will be here Friday night I believe, and my Dad may come for a couple days.

We enjoy just hanging out and not having a lot planned. We have tons of board games, so we will probably just play some of those!

This is the big holiday my family gathers for, so we're going to my sister's house in NY. We'll drive up on Wednesday and come home on Saturday. My oldest will be home an extra day and go back to college Sunday evening. No specific plans while we're there--we'll be around her house with about 15 family members and I'll probably do some shopping online if there are good sales.

We had Fall Break last month and went to a state park a few hours away where we hiked and ziplined + had a board game night and bonfire. We also stopped at an ice cream parlor on the way home where we split a huge sundae with 5 scoops of ice cream, 3 sauces, whipped cream, & a cherry on top.

This coming week, the kids have W-F off school, and my office will close early on W and be closed through the weekend. Normally, my kids would spend Monday & Tuesday night with their dad but he & his wife came down with COVID this week so we'll have to see how they're feeling or if we'll have the kids through next Friday. My husband picked up a PT retail job for the Christmas season so he will be working the evening of Black Friday and maybe one of the weekend days, too. We'll celebrate Thanksgiving with my family but then go into Christmas mode once that's over!

Fall Break was last month. We were in New Orleans for the first two days, then drove home and recovered from the vacation before it.

But, for Thanksgiving weekend we are headed to Ontario to visit my brother. And bring home yummy chocolate.
