That's disturbing. And while I appreciate being informed, these kinds of things always make me think they are just handing over the weapons to the people who will abuse them. ugh!

yup, I was just thinking there would be a rise in used copier sales.
i don't get why the images have to be stored anyway.

that is scary. But if you think about it almost every place you go where you hand over your driver's license or birth certificate for instance enrolling your kids in school have a copy machine they use to copy this info for their records. I just got a copy of my sons birth certificate from his school. Now if they get rid of the copy machine they should really be responsible for that harddrive and either wipe it clean or destroy it. A new hard drive does not cost that much and it would be very easy to just remove and destroy an old hard drive

I agree its very scary to think about where and when you left bits and pieces of your private and personal info. around town....The story said that there are machines that automatically delete the images but that they cost $500 extra or something and that a lot of companies aren't willing to put forth the extra cash. Though I do think if you are getting rid of a machine like this it should be required that you wipe the hard drive clean.
