Experience with Maya Road Albums

I'm looking for a bit of info. I'd like to work with either the accordian 4x6 Maya Road Album or the Banner Album. I've never really worked with Chipboard albums and this looks like fun. :)

From the description I can tell that the Banner Album has hinge rings so complete coverage with paper is easy, but it looks as though the accordian 4x6 rings are not removable. I'm wondering how everyone is working around this. Are you removing the rings and re-binding? or ??

Any input would be wonderful!

Nicki...the designers here have had 2 experiences with the accordian albums...

Some have used pliers to widen the space in the rings to get the albums apart, and then once they've assembled the pieces, have put them back on the rings and used the pliers again to tighten them.

The rings have a small space between the ends, where they don't quite meet up...papers can fit through these depending on the thickness (though most papers should fit). So some designers have had success punching the holes first and then just feeding them through the small space and then gluing them down.

It's completely up to you which way you want to do it, though! :)

Nicki - The banner album is really easy to work with - the rings are the hinged type and come right off.

As Bree said, I was able to remove the rings from an accordian album by putting needle nose pliers inside them and then opening the pliers. I haven't assembled the accordian album back together yet, but on this one I'm going to use ribbon to tie the pages back together. I know that Traci Reed and Dani Mogstad have both assembled the albums using the original rings though - so it is possible! HTH
