EHD recommendations?

Anyone have a good EHD recommendation? My old one is not working and I have got to replace it. We're looking at maybe a 2TB one.
 
I have 3 western digitals and haven't had any issues... I have a 160 gb portable, a 500 gb and a 1 tb.
 
If you can, I suggest getting *2* EHD's. I currently have 2 Western Digitals (a 500GB and a 1TB) and have never had a problem with them. I also have an Iomega (250GB) that is 4 years old and still going strong.

I suggest getting 2 EHD's, because if you put EVERYTHING on the 2TB EHD and no where else, when it goes (and it will go), then you're still screwed. A single EHD not backed up to a second source isn't a real back up method. Just wanted to point that out.

Oh, and just like any hardware, you'll hear horror stories from people who have Western Digital EHD's blow up within a few days or months of use. It's just like the Hp vs Dell vs Mac debate. Find one you like and can afford, and just go for it.
 
I have a seagate and a western digital...both have had no issues although the seagate seems to run more smoothly than the WD...I had one seagate prior to this newer one that lasted about 2 1/2 years with daily use before it died.

Yes I would definitely get two if you can. When my old seagate died I only lost about 2 kits b/c I had everything backed up to my 2nd backup lol
 
I have two seagates. One is a 320 gig, years old, still works and has been dropped twice. The other is a 1TB it's a little over a year old, knocked off the table once.
never a problem, I love them.
I would suggest having two - one to back up the back up like Nikki said :)
 
I also have 2 Western Digitals. One portable and one not. I have been using the non-portable one for 2 years and the portable for 1 year. Never had any issues with either.
 
Hey Melissa! I have three. I have an iomega, a Seagate, and a Western Digital. None of them have given me any problems. The WD is my least favorite, just because it is a bit slow and loud.

I have three WD passport EHDs. The oldest is going on 4 years and the youngest is just over 6 months now (its my backup of my photos if there is a fire, grab and go). I like the WD passports because they are small, and you don't need any external power, its all done through the USB. I don't know, maybe they are all that way, but it when I started looking in the beginning there were others that needed an additional power cord. And since its a laptop that I scrap on, I didn't want another cord. Course now I have two EHDs plugged in to my lappy so its a little big, but it works. And yes the more you have on an EHD the more risk of losing it all you have!
 
I have only had experience with one EHD - and that's a Western Digital My Book desktop EHD. It is loud... but I haven't really had any problems with it yet and only owned it a year. I'd like to try a Seagate EHD.
 
Another quick note -- one of the things I love about my Seagate FreeAgent is that it is totally portable. I love the fact that I can just put it in my laptop bag and take it anywhere - you don't need to plug it into an outlet!
 
I have a Western Digital "My Passport" and LOVE it! We have an EHD as storage for shows from our DVR. We've had it for over a year running constantly (if the DVR is running, it is too) and so far so good! I'm going to say it's a WD, but it might be a Seagate. It's in an enclosure so I can't see.
 
I have two WD EHDs - 500G and 1T. The 1T is the backup to the backup....haven't had a problem with either one.
 
I have a 100GB maxtor that is running strong after 5 years.
Then I have a 500GB Toshiba portable for the laptop that is a couple of years old and love it. Love it so much my hubby got me a new 640GB Toshiba portable as an early bday pressie for backup for the 500GB one.
Good luck in whatever ya find. I would only recommend a portable type one if you don't want extra power cords to deal with.
 
Thanks for all the recommendations, girls. I had all my pics backed up, but all my LO's (I had most of them printed already, thank goodness) and scrapping supplies are gone. I plan to definitely get two EHD's!
