I have been on Match for almost a year but haven't really done too much with it because I am too chicken lol. Well, a couple of weeks ago I met up with friends for the day and they encouraged me to *like* someone who had previously liked my profile. I decided to send him a message too, since we have a lot of things in common, and I figured I have nothing to lose.

We have since messaged back and forth and started talking on the phone as well. We are meeting for a first date on Sunday. I am excited but nervous - he seems like an incredible person and is so kind and thoughtful. He seems too good to be true... but even if the relationship doesn't develop into anything more, he would be an incredible friend, so I'm trying to just keep myself calm and not stress about it lol.

We're meeting for coffee and a walk. Fingers crossed all goes well. I haven't had any dates since I got divorced in 2013. I was busy raising my kids and living life, not feeling the need for a partner.
It's time to put myself back out there.

How exciting Lori!! I hope he's as nice in person as he is on the phone. Best of luck for the date. Let us know how it goes.

Good luck with the date, Lori! I hope you have a great time and that he is as nice a person as he sounds on the phone.

Sounds exciting! If he seems to good to be true, do a deep dive on the internet, and don't forget to share your phone's location with a friend or family member. Stay safe and enjoy!

So exciting! enjoy your date and be safe, remember to chose public places and share your location with some friend or family member.

This is so fun! You know we expect a full report back on Monday :D I hope you have a wonderful time

Oh, this is so fun! I hope you have a wonderful time and that he's someone that you can add into your life to make it fuller and richer.

I'll join in with a couple of others who recommended you share your phone location, but you should also let them know where you are meeting and where you are walking. Sending a text with a safe word or phrase or special character so that your friend(s) know that it's you that's texting and not anyone else.

And search him, absolutely. My sister-in-law ended up with a guy who had a criminal history and he really made a mess of her. That doesn't mean someone can't reform, but it's always good to just know.

Now. We have to talk about the important things. What are you wearing? Have you picked out an outfit and jewelry and such? I'm so excited to see what happens!

Thank you all so much! I have done some searching online and I have already told my 2 sons who live at home that I will be letting them know exactly where I will be. I hadn't thought of the safe word... great idea.

LOL I haven't picked out an outfit yet, but I did get a manicure today! Since we're going to walk, I'm thinking capris and a fun top. I've got a ton of earrings to choose from. :)

I will definitely post an update. ;)

You have gotten tons of great advice so I will just go with enjoy! Putting yourself back out there years after a divorce is both exciting and scary. I remember that feeling.

I hope you have a wonderful time and I hope he is as awesome as you are. You deserve the best! We want the deets on Monday!

So the date lasted a couple of hours and it was awesome! We met for coffee and then went on an hour plus long walk along the ocean. He was super easy to talk to and we had a lot of laughs and great conversation. I am confident we will see each other again and he said he’d like to see me sooner rather than later. I survived and live to tell the story lol! I actually wasn’t as stressed as I expected to be and I slept OK last night. Yay! Thanks for all your positive thoughts and wishes. I appreciate it.

So glad you had fun and won't be staring in your own Dateline episode ;)

I am SOOOOO happy that it went well and that you have a friendship started that might turn into romance!

100% this.... Thomas is someone that I would want to be friends with regardless of whether it develops into anything else. He is kind of like the male version of me lol. We have so much in common!
