Easter Baskets

I have teenagers- 15, 18 and then our billet boys who are 19 & 21. I still do Easter baskets but I've been struggling this year on what to put in them. I used to do a new swimsuit or sandals (something they actually need) in addition to small toys & treats. 🐰🍫

This year, I'm kind of at a loss. We did new swimsuits/summer shoes for Christmas since we went on vacation- so we don't really need any of that stuff. The hockey boys don't eat much candy, so I'm thinking Jerky or beef sticks for theirs (and my son's too.) My husband had the idea of putting a scratch lotto ticket in them- so I'll probably do that too. Maybe a coffee giftcard? Help!

The doggies always appreciate new toys & cookies though- so at least I have that figured out! :D

What do you do for Easter Baskets for your kids? Do you still do them for older kids?
 
Never heard of this before to be honest. We don't do that over here or at least I
don't...I gave my daughter a chocolat bunny and some chocolat eggs and that's it.
We only give presents at Christmas and Sinterklaas...and birthday offcourse.

So, currious to see what you and others that do this give ☺️
 
I am in the sam boat- Kids already got new swimsuits (Target sale). I filled the baskets with their fave snacks and candy and a Door Dash GC. We don't DD at all really but I know they like to when they are with their friends.
NO egg hunt this year either :( I have seen fun activities to do in place and I may try to pull off one of those but honestly, I am still recovering from our chaotic Christmas Eve! :LOL:
 
Mine are 13, 18, & almost 21. I did more candy than I have in previous years, I got them some body wash, a small lego set, lego mini fig and I'm going to through a Pokemon Go gift card in for all of them. I think that's all the "stuff" I got, my problem is I pick up things here and there, forget, then usually have too much.

I'm just so tired of buy crap no one will use after they open it, but I also don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for easter.
 
I'm in the same boat. My guys don't eat much candy. I did get each of them a small chocolate bunny. (About 5 inches tall.) And a Cadbury creme filled chocolate egg. I'm going grocery shopping this morning. I plan to pick up a canister of Pringles for each of them, a Slim Jim and packs of gum. (The kind that has several packs in one pack.) I've got a Chick-fil-A collector cup for each and I'll probably put $10.00 in them. That's all I can think of right now.
 
Being the Nana making the grands an Easter basket, I usually put candy and a small gift such as cute socks for the teen girls and matchbox cars for the teen boys since they collect them. The little grands get a small plushy. Since I am making seven baskets, I stick to smaller things. Plus, I know that their parents all get them bigger gifts in their baskets.
 
I sent boxes out on Monday to my kids & grandkids with Easter "baskets" - I added a couple of silly things from Target's dollar area, Lego figurines, a small Lego set and some candy. Hopefully they'll get there before Easter! It's mostly so they know I'm thinking about them.
 
So my "kids" are basically 21, 23 and going on 26 and I usually do a "small" easter basket for them just to keep things fun and whimsical (I'm just like that). Went looking this year to get that done at both Target and Walmart and OMG... the prices on everything was astronomical and baskets were really big... to "fill" them would have taken a pretty penny. So I scrapped the idea and said "sorry adults, no baskets for you this year" haha :D Halloween was super expensive last year too with prices on candy. Gotta love it.

Instead of baskets, I bought a package of Easter boxes - kind of like popcorn boxes - at Target. I think it was $5 for 5 of them. They worked really well :)
 
My kids are 22 and 23, so I did a giant family basket filled with candy, breakfast bars, protein bars, and LOTS of Choc Zero stuff that everyone can pick from. It's nice we can all share now that they are older.

My youngest of the 4 is 19, but they still all get Easter Baskets. I actually keep the baskets from the year before, and just reuse them (started this when they were young, so no need to rebuy baskets each year). I did do a decorative basket one year (like the woven fun ones from like Target. They liked that they could bring those to college and use for storage).

This year, they are each getting new spring/summer pajamas (they get winter ones at Christmas, but usually we do new summer/spring ones if we go on vacation. No vacation this year, means pjs for Easter). They are all girls, so I am sure that changes things. They are each getting a chocolate bunny and a new hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works. Nothing huge. No small toys since they wouldn't really care probably. 2 of them are in different states for Easter, and 2 are home, so we did things that would be easy to ship (or we may just pack the one for CA since we see her the end of the month). They each got an item they needed (a tote bag, a duffle bag, a new pair of shoes, etc.)

We always reused Easter baskets when the kids were growing up. I couldn't see spending extra to buy a new one every year. Now that they're all grown and away from home, I try to use something inexpensive or disposable. I think last year I went to DollarTree.

Door dash would be good for our hockey boys- they DD something almost every midnight! :LOL:

We've used the same baskets their entire lives! We even did newborn pics in one of the baskets we still use (my daughters!) Pretty sure I still have the same basket fluff & eggs too! 😆

We have used the same Easter baskets since they were born. They don't hold too much (thankfully!) so now I fill them up with candy, fun drinks, jewelry, bath stuff, and/or something silly & Easter-related to wear for photos.
 
I've slowed down on the candy in the past few years but mine always get a chocolate bunny except for this year it was a chocolate chicken b/c I laughed out loud in the store when I saw it! I try to tailor the basket to each of my girls current interests so my youngest is getting a basket filled with Sculpey clay, sculpting tools and acrylic paints. She's going to love it because she's been making so many awesome figurines for her friends and people in our community! (Her IG is @sew.deliciousss in case anyone wants to see how creatively amazing she is!) Since my oldest is in college now and I had to mail her basket across the country I just did the chocolate chicken and a bunch of her favorite restaurant gift certificates. She opened it the day it came instead of waiting for Easter. Little turd! Lol, anyway she isn't one to get excited about presents but she was thrilled with her gift cards!
 
I'm pretty sure the kids old Easter baskets are still up in the linen closet. I reused the same ones every year. I still have mine from when I was growing up too. I reused the Easter grass and plastic eggs for a long time, but I don't think those have survived time and the last move since the kids are all grown.

I don't usually do anything but a variety of candy now that they are all grown, and only for the ones still here at home. They tend to just sit and snack all day on whatever they get, so I've cut back on the amount - none of us need to eat it and goodness it has all gotten so expensive. I can't not get at least some though ;)

I did buy a new reusable drawing board for my grandson for his Easter basket, and left that with his mom to pack up for him when we were there visiting this last weekend. I got a preview of his basket a little while ago, and let's just say he is a very loved little boy!
 
I just went and packed the kids and it's a good thing, because I would have totally bought more tomorrow! LOL!

This is what I had in their baskets, I would have taken a photo, but they have small baskets my MIL made them all when they were first born, so it's hard to see exactly what's in them.

My MIL has actually done me a favor by making small baskets, because I absolutely love doing the baskets and Christmas stockings.
 
Like Natascha it is not a thing here in the Netherlands, I always and still do a chocolate bunny and some eggs for each and when they are into it I even hide some chocolate eggs in the garden to search for...
 
Easter baskets aren't a thing here. In the past I would buy the girls a few easter eggs, but they're 19 and 22 now and chocolate prices are through the roof right now. I told them yesterday that I'm not buying easter eggs this year. They didn't even bat an eye. If they want chocolate they will buy it themselves.
 
I've never done the baskets. I never wanted to be stuck just buying things to fill a basket.

We just do a simple egg hunt filled with chocolate and candy and sometimes I'll throw in a board game or new books.

Amie, what about some Pez? I know it's still candy but who doesn't love a good throw back! lol

I just realized I forgot to take a picture of the Easter "baskets" that I sent out. Ugh!! 🤪 Hopefully they'll remember to send me pictures.
 
My son is 19... so he is getting candy, socks (always - it's a joke), a book, a game, a few stupid toys (just because he is 19 doesn't mean he won't like bubbles, haha), and a few bumbums... for some reason he is still really likes them.

Totally agree that candy and chocolate prices are super high. But I waited for sales and got it all for a little less. I'm just doing some chocolate and Pokemon cards. There will be a small hunt for the basket, even though my son will soon be 13! He still wants the Easter Bunny to visit him, so he shall get his basket! Even though he knows it's from us. It's all in good fun!

I agree that it's still fun to do some of the traditions from their childhood- life is hard, so why not let them be a kid for as long as possible right!? 😜
 
My daughter is 26 now and a tax accountant. I won't even get to see her mind prep an Easter basket. I really miss the Easters from when she was younger. Holidays just feel sad to me now.
