4.8 on the rickter scale and the epicenter was 50 kilometers for Copenhagen!! The first earthquake in Denmark since 1985! I was sitting on the toilet and all of a sudden the toilet started moving and I was like WTF? I came out asked DH if he felt anything and he said ya, stuff shook a bit.

My goodness, Eve :blink:But at least you were in the right place in case it scared something out of ya,lol.

LOL True True. Here is an article with updated details....

An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hit Sweden this morning, effects felt in Denmark The US Geological Survey has recorded an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hitting southern Sweden at 6.20am, with Copenhagen and other parts of Zealand also feeling the effects.
The epicenter was located 65 kilometres east of Copenhagen in the Skåne region of Sweden and the tremors lasted for a number of seconds.
Reports are coming in from central Copenhagen, Bornholm, Roskilde and eastern Jutland of people being woken from their sleep by shaking beds and furniture.
Copenhagen Police duty officer Jens Kristiansen told politiken.dk that they have received many calls from concerned residents, but no reports of injuries.
‘It began with the operators from the emergency call centre ringing us, because the furniture was shaking and the lamps were swinging.’
Kristiansen also said that while police have an emergency preparedness plan, it does not take earthquakes into account.
Torben Riis told public broadcaster DR that his first thought when the tremors began was that it was either an earthquake or terrorist attack.
‘The office building in Ballerup suddenly began vibrating, like a ferry when the waves hit it side on and then all the porcelain began rattling.’
It is not unusual for an earthquake to strike Denmark, although this is the biggest one to hit since 1985. Denmark experiences on average two to ten earthquakes annually, but the majority are so small they are not felt by the population, according to the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland.

I have lived here 11 years and NEVER felt one before!

My first one was when my dad was stationed in Turkey with all of us...it scared all of us to death..my mom was driving home and was trying to figure out why we were all sitting outsideon the sidewalk...since all the houses in Turkey were made out of a concrete material they told you not to stay inside....but she thought there was something wrong with our car *HAHA*....went through several more when we lived in Alaska...our basement when we were living there caved in...everything from the top floor went down..it was a mess...thats when they decided to redo housing! Had a few when I lived in California too but they were never as bad as the ones in Alaska. Okay I've rambled more..:)

HAHAHAHA Eve (gonna be crude), at least he felt it, too - and it wasn't just you on the toilet!!!

Glad you're alright, though - I'm sure they can be freaky occurances!

LOL you guys are funny. It's even funnier when you know I have one of those toilets that hang on the wall. I had NO idea what the heck was going on and thought the toilet was falling off the wall or something. LOL

That would freak me out! We had one here about 8 years ago. I was laying on the sofa & suddenly it felt like a bunch of heavy machinery was driving right past the house, which can't happen because the house is nowhere near the road. DH calls me a few minutes later and says "Did you feel that earthquake?"

Ick!!! One of the things that I dread living in So. California about 20 miles from one of the world's largest fault lines.....

I'm so glad that you are ok.

Hmm, I've been in plenty of earthquakes but I think I'm quite glad they never happened while I was in the bathroom. That would be rather crazy.
