Downton Abbey Fans - starts tonight! (possible SPOILERS!)

Ooh, thanks for the reminder. While I knew it was starting Jan. 8, I had not put it together that it was tonight. :)

Maybe I'll run and watch the last episode from the first season really quick. ;)
 
Is the first season on Netflix? I keep hearing great things about it, but I haven't watched at all. I need to get caught up. :)

Yes. That's where I watched it about a month or so ago.

I love this show but had forgotten all about it coming back on tonight. Thanks for the reminder.

I scrolled quickly-just to add I'm watching tonight-it's on the DVR...I was exhausted last night and decided not to stay up and watch!
 
I was ridiculously excited for this last night! It was so good! And yes!! Mrs. Bates...what a piece of work (O'Brien actually seems to maybe have found a little bit of heart). Plus the rivalry between Mary and Edith is just....horrible. The whole Edith/farming storyline was a bit odd for me. And can I just mention that I LOVE Carson's voice. *sigh* Love this show!!

I think he's either a brother or a farm hand - he's not Drake - whom I believe is married to the woman. But my boys came running into the room talking (a habit we're trying VERY hard to break right now) when Edith was talking to the family about the letter they received and who was sick, not able, etc. I can't imagine that that would be her husband and be so brazen.
 
You are so going to love this series and we had a two hour long Christmas Special on Christmas Day which carried the story on and was super fantastic :)

Ah, the heck with it - seeing this thread updating when I haven't watched it yet is torture. So I'm just reading it, spoilers and all. I'm really not sure when I will get a chance to watch it! :(

I didn't read any of the previous posts, so as not be spoiled. I just want to say . . . I have never watched this show, but I did DVR last night's episode. And, today I watched the first episode from Season 1 on Netflix. I'm already hooked! I have to hurry and get through the rest of the episodes so I can watch last night's new one. I've been meaning to investigate this show for a while now, so thanks for getting me on the bandwagon. :)

me too, lol! I'm now going to watch another episode while I fold laundry..never have I been so glad for a huge pile of laundry to fold, lol!

I fold ALL my laundry while watching Netflix. Makes it bearable. :)

Didn't get a chance to watch last night - will try again tonight!
 
At the beginning of the series, I was kinda on Edith's side, because she seemed like she got the short end of the stick, being the 2nd oldest and maybe not being as pretty as Mary. But once she wrote to the Turkish Embassy, she crossed a line. And now that she seems to have no qualms with kissing/wanting a relationship with a married man, she's just that much lower. Penny, you're right...girl needs some attention from someone.
 
Just finished watching the show. Can't wait for the next one. This is why I like Netflix better. No waiting period to finish up the series! lol
 
I finished watching everything yesterday, and I LOVE it! But, I agree with Ripal about having it on Netflix. After watching the whole first season and then the first episode of this season all within the matter of a few days, I was seriously having withdrawal. I want to know what happens NEXT! So, excited for Sunday!
 
I finally watched this last night. No one mentioned that Mrs. Bates was Queen Katherine from The Tudors. :)

I guess I'll be spending this season hoping Mary and Matthew get together.
 
I just caught up with the two episodes of season 2 tonight and I have to say I think I like it even more now than I did Season 1. I agree with everyone else about Netflix - I want to watch more episodes one right after another! Can't wait until next Sunday.
 
I'm curious now! I'm sad I missed the first season. I just put it on hold at the library, but I'm #40. We'll see when I get around to it then...
 
I just got to watch the 2nd show (we had company who wouldn't have been interested on Sunday), and I gotta say... I *heart* Mr. Bates. I think I have a tv crush LOL .

I do, too! Love him!! I SO hope it works out for him and Anna, but I don't think that nasty Vera is going to be so easy to get rid of like he thinks. :crying:
