Does your scrapping style match your personality?

I was flicking through my layouts the other day, and realised that my scrapping style is a pretty accurate reflection of my personality and my home. As a Capricorn, I'm a logical, straight forward, no mucking around, linear thinking kind of person. The layouts I create most easily are the same. I love the blocked style layouts, and simple, clean lines. My house is the same. We don't have knick knacks cluttering up the bench/coffee tables, and the house is generally in a pretty tidy condition.

As I've increased my scrapping skills to clustering and layers, I realise that it reflects the state of my scrap room. In contrast to the rest of the house, my scrap room is where I'm really creative, and it always looks like a bomb has hit it, with projects, papers and craft items all over the desks. Even when I include clusters on my layouts, they're generally smallish ones grouped onto the page in a semi tidy manner. I wonder if this is because any mess in my life/house is tucked away to certain parts of the house. Haha!

While I LOVE a good patterned paper, I still tend to use a lot of solids, and base my layouts foundation on them. Thinking this through, I realise that my wardrobe is chiefly made up of solid colours, with only a few patterned clothing items here and there. All the walls in our house are solid colours too, with pops of colour in the furnishings only.

I think it's kinda crazy just how MUCH my scrapping is a reflection of me. Anyone else think that way??

You could pretty much take everything you said and just insert my name... except for the Capricorn, as I'm a Cancer. :D

I've never thought about it, but I don't think so. My real life wardrobe tends to be neutral and on the dark side, lots of black, denim, and purple. Our wall colors are white, gray, blue, and tan, with brighter colors in the kids' rooms. My scrapbook pages are much brighter and more colorful. My home is also simpler and less embellished than my pages. Sure, we've got tons of toys, papers, and kid-stuff cluttering up the place, but our furniture tends to be simple with clean lines, our walls have a few nice photos, and our "decorations" are mostly functional, like pretty containers that provide pops of color and hold stuff. I like blocked LOs and large photos, but that's about the only part of my style that carries over to my pages. Scrapping is where I play with colors and pattern (though I'm also big on solids and don't like to overwhelm my photos), but that doesn't carry over to my home or wardrobe.

mmmhmmm.
VERY much so.
I look at my scrapping as a journal of sorts so I think the fact that it'd be anything but an extension of my "brains" is pretty absurd.

My style matches my personality but not my home. I'm crazy, cluttered, non stop personality. But my home is very minimal. That or I will not admit to my home being crazy. ;)

--Though the geometric angle of my scrapping does reflect my home. :)

Nope. Not so much. Scrapping is my time to really get out there and do whatever I want. I don't have to think about whether I want to live with it long term or not. ;) My home is crazy and chaotic far too often but I prefer simple, clean lines with minimal decorations and just a few big pieces as statement pieces.

I'm a pretty complex person and I feel the difference in my scrapping vs. my home/wardrobe/etc. reflects that. :)

I have no idea! I've only been scrapping a little over two years and I'm not sure I have completely developed a style? Or maybe I have? No idea.

I do have a strong love for big pictures on my pages. If I had to declare one style, it would totally be big pictures with lots of elements.

Good question! I'm not sure what my style is, sometimes artsy, sometimes linear, sometimes TONS of layers, sometimes photos, sometimes no photos. The one constant is that they have "enough stuff" on them. As a decorator, I'm more of a minimalist but that's more due to my dust allergy, less stuff = less dust. So I'm not sure if mine correlates or not.

For me it's a no. My pages are much claner than my house. I like to add lots of decorations, but still done with a clean organized look. My house though is kind of messy and definitely not very well organized. I'd like it to be, but it's not.

Yes, I think it does. I'm someone whose tastes and interests change quite frequently; I love discovering and learning new things all the time, and my scrapping reflects this by a variety of styles.

Also, when it comes to household, I oscillate between orderly (my default personality trait that I almost forgot about) and messy (the personality trait that I developed with age) and that's reflected in my pages as well as I do extremely clean layouts and whimsically artistic ones.

I don't think it does for me. Scrapping is one of the very few creative things I do. I love patterns and I'm very clustery. In my real life, I can't be bothered with decorating anything. Our walls are beige - I've never painted a wall in my life, and we have no other decorations to speak of.

Scrapping is the one time that I get out of my box.

I think so for me. My style is all over the place and so is my brain. I like to try different things in scrapping and in life. I hate to be tied to one place for too long and I hate when all of my scrap pages start to look the same.

I can't decide. I'm pretty much all over the place as far as layouts go. I tend to get way more busy and girly on my pages than I would in real life where I'm not girly and anti-clutter, but at the same time, I definitely emote and put "me" on my pages.

Yep, this is me. Of course, it doesn't stop me from pinning tons of decorating or room makeover ideas, lol.

I'm a capricorn too (but I don't follow astrology) :p I am a very busy person (meaning I like to be doing multiple things at a time). I have a hard time sitting still and just watching tv or relaxing. I would say my pages are busy too ... with lots of colors, elements and patterns. My pages are extroverted just like I am.

I'm not sure.... I think for the most part yes. I'm a bit of a neat freak, and like clean-er pages... but I love paint, splatters and a little blendy mess. I do love organization.... I think that lends to my double pages for my albums. I'm not much of a decorator, but my house is neat, somewhat clean, and maybe on the neutral side. I think my pages are more colorful and creative than my house, lol!

NO... I'm an incredible messy person, but my scrapbooking style isn't messy at all... but: I love taking messy Art-Journal-kits and use them on my NEAT layouts ;D.
