Does anyone have "go to" kits for PL?

I am going to try to do most of Project Life digitally this year but I'm afraid I'll get bogged down in trying to find and use the "perfect" kits every week, which was part of why I got behind in scrapbooking in the first place. So, I want to have a small number (less than 5) of big kits that I will mostly use for PL.

I don't really like the colors of the new Becky Higgins PL kits this year -- we are more "bright", primary colored people and don't wear a lot of orange and aqua and green which seem to be the main colors in her kits lately.

Does anyone use a few "go to" kits for PL? Any suggestions for big, bright kits that would be good to use?

there was also a free collab i think it was on ali edwards blog for sweet shoppe that was called everyday - it has a ton of everyday type items in it and some journal cards i believe. you might have it in your stash?

Thank you! These are beautiful and I'm planning to buy several. Interesting how these seem largely to coordinate with each other and also coordinate with some items I am looking at from (sssshhhh) another shop. Not sure if everyone is trying to coordinate Becky Higgins' kits or what (e.g., lots of orange and aqua and green, as I mentioned). In most ways, it is wonderfully convenient to be able to mix an match -- so I will just go with it. [But it might be nice to have a bit more color variety in the future. :) ].

You know what I think it is Dawn... When people create these "everyday" types of products, they're trying to choose colors that aren't too masculine or too feminine and aren't too juvenile either so that they work for a maximum number of people and memories. Once you eliminate some of the colors that really have any of those feels to them, there are only so many colors left that actually look great together so I think you end up with lots of products that while not intended to, do actually end up looking like they coordinate. It's been a neat (and strange) phenomenon watching it evolve from my perspective.

I'm weird, I'd do all my PL stuff with blacks, whites, grays and brights if I were doing it lol.
 
I also want to add, I think the "beauty" of Project Life is when things DON"T match. I love those pages with a mishmash of colors, patterns, etc. It's really liberating to me to not have to match colors in pictures to colors in kits. I completed week one yesterday, and I just used whatever made me happy. It's random and imperfect and I LOVE it. It's opened a whole new world of scrapbooking for me.
 
That's interesting, Robin. I of course look at this from the perspective of a consumer but I can see why that would make sense for designers and why it would have broad appeal. I still think my favorite "original" PL kit was Cobalt, though, because of the rich jewel colors including a nice dark blue. I didn't find it too masculine (it had a pretty rich "berry" color too) but it seemed that virtually all of the PL creative team members were instead using the Clementine version which would, again, coordinate with most of what I'm seeing this year -- including the new Becky Higgins kit.

Maybe I will use mostly standard go-to kits and then just spend some more time finding alternate kits/colors for some pages in those weeks where I have a little more time. Brook has made some great suggestions.

Also, I bought a bunch of Cindy's awesome card, sticker and label templates (and I want to buy more). I think they will help me use ANY kit I want! So excited! :D
 
If I were choosing a small group of go to kits, I think I'd include a seasonal kit for each of the 4 seasons in addition to all of my year-long go-tos. Probably a school kit, too, since there are some weeks our activities mostly revolve around school and homework. For example, I'd use this summer kit from Yari:

This is my first year doing PL, and I'm using Cobalt. I agree with you about some of her other kits not really matching the colors that will be in my photos, especially when you're scrapping boys and girls together. Interesting explanation for why, Robin. That makes sense. Honestly, I think the digi-designers have done a much better job delivering colors that work for the colors that will be in my photos and aren't too feminine than BH did this year. Especially if you're committing to a full year of scrapping with one color palette, it has to be the right one!

Love that kit, Rachel. Now I'm just waiting for you to find me ones for the other seasons. :D
 
And, coincidentally, Becky Higgins announced a whole slew of new PL kits today. I'm still going digital, though (and the Becky Higgins kits ones won't be out until May in paper and "in due time" digitally anyway).
