Does anyone have a Droid???

I just got mine today and was wondering if there are any apps that I NEED? ;)

Point me in the right direction pretty please! :)

I have a droid and I love it!!!

I have the facebook for droid app, a standard gmail app, Google maps app (for the gps), and a Bubblewrap popping app to entertain my 3-yr-old when I need him to sit still for 27 seconds.

On Maui, we don't have a 3G network yet, so I honestly don't use the browser much because it's kind of slow without the 3G, but I was on Oahu a few months ago and it was SO COOL the difference 3G makes!! WOW. So that will be cool if Maui ever gets with the times!!

I am sure there are about a gazillion other apps out there that I should have, but I'm one of those people who are annoyed when other people are constantly messing with their phones. I don't text. And I really try not to use my phone in public. It's just this weird thing I have - I think this constant need to be "plugged in" is bad for our society. LOL. {said as I can't seem to pull myself away from the SSD forum for more than a few hours at a time}...

My husband has the Nexus One, but I highly doubt he has any apps that you or I would want, so I won't bother asking. LOL

I have one and love it too! I also have the facebook app., I have a ringtone app, a backgrounds app, and a bunch of game apps for me and the kids.

We do and the best ap is PDA net - you can use your phone as a modem - Its how I am on line right now - and lets me use my laptop in the car so I can chat on long trips!!!

For PDA net do you use the free version or the paided, I have a blackberry and would love to do this it says there is a nagging screen every once in a while just wondering how annoying it is.

I've been searching for apps and any moms with little ones need to dl one called Toddler Lock. It locks your phone but leaves the screen so that you can draw on it with your fingers and it plays little musical chimes as you draw. My son loves it! He always wants my phone and sometimes you need something to keep their attention for a little bit. :)

I think we have the free one - but I am not sure - my dh did it for me - I will ask him - (PDA Net)

Nonnie thank you so much for the PDA net information. I got home last night and started to download then realized that my blackberry software was out of date so updated that and then installed PDA net, not only did the update to my software speed up my phone and now I don't want to throw it in the garbage and get something else but the PDA net application worked like a charm, let me know if you use the paided or free we are thinking of getting rid of our home internet if this will work then we won't have to pay for it three times, two blackberries and our home line. I just want to know how annoying the screen that pops up is or if you even notice it.

You know we have the free version and we don't even notice the Nag... I dont know why - hubbie says that he thinks the free version blocks http - but we are using it here in the TLF (military hotel) because the internet SUCKS and I have been hitting the http sites -
One thing he did say is be careful - your phone company may put a limit on your Downloads .... They apparently dont want everyone jumping on the PDA net bandwagon... and its still slow - not like our home internet - but AWESOME for a backup like a power outage or traveling ....

Is that an app for the droid only? That is a cool idea! My hubby has a blackberry and that would come in handy. I am so not app-smart, as my phone is an old dinosaur, so I don't know how these things work!

Okay, Okay, Okay... I think I have had a brain cramp... can you use the PDA net app to allow you to use your phone to be internet connection, for a laptop, when you are in your car? Or did I totally miss something?

Yes - You can attach your phone via USB and then use your phone as a modem. It Rocks - you can use your laptop with internet in the car - or when you are at the airport or anyplace you have cell service - and the best is it is FREE!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh Thank you!!

I could just hug you Nonnie!! I spend about 12 hours each week in line waiting for the kiddos. And all my work is on-line. This will be such a help, and it will allow me more time to scrap!!
Thanks so much!
