Do you wish you got more comments on your layouts?

One simple way we all get more comments on our layouts - because comments are fun and make us feel good.
1. Click on your layout in the gallery
2. Copy the web address from the top of your page
3. Click into this sweet place

Post the link to your layout that you just copied and then comment on several layouts backwards from your post. Then watch some comments turn up on your layout.

When I do this I get to see more fun layouts that inspire me, as a designer, to scrap, because you guys made a good layout!! Together we make it more fun!:hugs:

That's an awesome reminder! When someone posts a layout, they are sharing a piece of their life and people and things that are important to them. Have a layout with no comment is like someone talking but nobody is listening. I need to be better about commenting on layouts. Thanks, again, for the wonderful reminder!

I'm not sure this is gallery etiquette any more, but back when I started scrapbooking it was the norm to make at least one or two comments when you posted. I still do this: Whenever I post my page I make sure to leave a few comments on the pages posted near mine. Also when someone posts a comment on my page I always repay the courtesy and take a look at their gallery... sometimes it takes me a week or two, but I get there :D

And Evelyn that is a great way to look at it - people are sharing and feel unseen if no one bothers. Love that explanation!

krista I think you're right about leaving a comment or two when uploading. going to go browse the gallery now! xo

I'm like Krista, when someone leaves a comment on my layout, I always go to their gallery and leave some love as well.
And for every comment I get, I repay the love by leaving a comment for two other people as well.

I also try to do what Krista does. I learned early on to leave love on the other layouts around mine when I upload a layout (sometimes on the whole page if I have time). Sometimes it is a quick upload and run, but usually I will try and leave love on the layouts around mine.

I actually dislike the leaving love thread. While I love getting comments, I do not like asking for comments. I would rather have someone leave a comment because they like my layout, than post in a thread requesting that people leave love on my layout.

I have heard from a couple people that they do not feel welcomed or "loved" here at SSD. And that whole leaving love thread could be the reason. Noone wants to have to ask for someone to leave them some love, it should be a generous thing that others want to do. And for one of these new people to feel they have to ask to get comments, it makes them not feel quite welcomed here. Just my 2 cents.

SSD has a really fast moving gallery, so pages just get buried very quickly (especially when pages are posted immediately before/after a new releases). The leaving love thread allows people to see pages they may have missed just by virtue of how fast the gallery moves  Said another way, the gallery at SSD isn't a "continuous scroll" like some of the others stores and most people just don't seek out pages beyond what's listed on the immediate gallery landing page so it's really easy for pages to get missed. I completely respect not wanting to seek out comments, but also thought I'd provide an alternative perspective.

Of course, I'm super sad that anyone would feel unloved here. I would encourage those people to also spend time commenting on pages and being part of the community. There is definitely a cohort of members who return love, etc.

I try to always reciprocate layout comments. I'm not perfect about it, but I do truly appreciate all comments on my pages, and even if the comments I leave are short, they are sincere
