want to say to your kids, "OMG you have to leave or I'm going to claw my brain out." ? And then feel like the worst mommy ever?

ARGH! I hope this isn't a preview of the rest of my day. :o
 
I homeschool my kids... but I am no saint. ;)

Yeah, I've said "Will you please just leave Mommy alone or I am going to start climbing the walls!!!!!!!" Um. A lot. Usually it's when I have to get something done on the computer and they are taking turns asking me questions every 5 minutes. :p
 
I've actually put myself in 'timeout' before... LOL! Ahhhhh... the alone time was a blessing! (Im sure the kids probably thought so as well! ahaha)
 
I've told mine "sorry, there is no one named 'mommy' here today" ;) Mostly I tell them that we all need to take a 5 minute break and we all go to separate rooms. Works well around here.
 
Sending them outside to play can be like that. For a good 10 minutes, I can walk around and take deeeeep breaths. LOL! So nice.

THIS!!! Totally!! :D I love our enclosed courtyard at this house... I can let them out and still see them and hear them (although in a much more muted far-off way). They do chalk all the time... it occupies them for a good 30 minutes! Mama needs peace every now and then. ;)
 
For sure. Mine is more like, "if you don't stop talking for 5 minutes, I'm going to go crazy." My son can talk incessantly and sometimes I just need some quiet! I do feel like a horrible mom when it comes to that, but I have guilt issues about everything!
 
Yes, definitely. As long as I can keep it together long enough to nicely ask them to go play in their own rooms for 10 minutes, all is well. The problem is when one or more is having a hard time and can't even manage to follow those directions without needing me 6 times. That's when I yell and feel guilty later.
 
I don't feel guilty about it. I need it and there is nothing wrong with that. ;) My son is also a big talker, his mouth is going all the time and sometimes I need to tell him to stop for a few minutes and stop yelling for me constantly.
 
Word. I know you're supposed to give your kids your full attention when they talk to you, but I would NEVER get anything done if I did that. They. Talk. All. The. Time.

So, yes. I do say, "No more talking until mom says it's ok." Ya know, just sometimes. ; )
 
hahaha... sometimes we play the game, who can be quiet the longest... ;) Not surprising, I win - kiddo is another non-stop talker...
 
I don't think they ever out grow it either. My son still talks all the time and wants my attention when I am busy. Mostly I stop what I am doing and listen to him, but some times I tell him to take a hike and let me have me time. He understands. :)

Yep that is exactly what I was trying to do, lol! First thing in the morning and I'm trying to scrap in peace and quiet and my dd is talking and asking questions NON STOP. An adult would understand what my short, curt answers mean.

Ah... They're precious, no?
